Contract Extension Keeps Siem Dorado Vessel Busy Until Late Q2 of 2024

Norwegian offshore vessel owner Siem Offshore has been awarded a contract extension for the multi-purpose support vessel Siem Dorado.The contract extension secures utilization for a period reaching towards the end of Q2 2024.The contract is expected to start in direct continuation of the current contract with continued operations expected outside the North Sea.Built in 2009, the Siem Dorado is a diesel electric-driven vessel. It is designed to meet the general offshore supply market with its 100-ton compensated offshore crane, designed for ROV and light construction duties.

TechnipFMC Says Vessel Contract with Petrobras 'Significant'

Oilfield services giant TechnipFMC has shed more light on vessel contracts it recently secured with Petrobras in Brazil in cooperation with the Norwegian offshore vessel owner DOF.DOF last week said it had, in JV with TechnipFMC, secured three-year contracts for two pipelay support vessels Skandi Vitória and Skandi Niteroi, without sharing further details on the scope of work awarded nor on the value.TechnipFMC on Tuesday issued a separate statement in which it said the contracts were "significant" which for TechnipFMC means as having a value between $75 million and $250 million.The Brazilian-built and flagged vessels are owned by DOFCON Navegação Ltda, a 50/50 JV between TechnipFMC and DOF Subsea.

Petrobras Awards 3-year Deals for DOF/TechnipFMC PLSV Duo

Brazilian oil company Petrobras has contracted awarded contracts for two pipelay support vessels owned by DOF and TechnipFMC.Oslo-listed DOF Subsea said Tuesday that the contracts, for three years each, are for the vessels Skandi Vitória and Skandi Niteroi, secured via JV partner TechnipFMC and via Norskan Offshore, respectively.Both vessels are Brazilian-built and flagged and owned by DOFCON Navegação Ltda., a joint venture between DOF Subsea (50%) and TechnipFMC (50%).Operations will start in February 2022 at the latest. No financial details were shared.Skandi Vitória was the first pipelay vessel built in Brazil, equipped with vertical and horizontal pipelay systems, a 250-tonne crane and two work ROVs (remotely operated vehicles).

Brazilian geoscience services company OceanPact Geociências has chosen deep water positioning technology from Sonardyne Brasil Ltda. to support its geophysical, geotechnical and environmental research operations across the region.Ranger 2 Ultra-Short Baseline (USBL) systems have been installed on board OceanPact’s research vessels Seward Johnson and Austral Abrolhos, both currently on hire to Brazilian oil major Petrobras. FPSO P-70 'Stable' After Storm Pushes it Near Coast

Brazilian oil company Petrobras said Friday that the recently delivered FPSO P-70 was stable after a storm that hit Rio de Janeiro last Thursday pushed the FPSO near a beach in Niteroi."Due to the storm that hit the metropolitan region of Rio de Janeiro on Thursday night (01/30), the [FPSO P-70] was moved near the coast," Petrobras said.According to Petrobras, the 288 meters long FPSO was being anchored in the bay by tugs responsible for securing the vessel by means of four anchor lines.

DOF Sells Skandi Marstein

Norwegian supply shipping company DOF sold and delivered the 1996 built platform supply vessel (PSV) "Skandi Marstein" to a new owner. The sale will not have any significant liquidity impact or impact on the accounts. The vessel has been in lay up since late autumn 2017. The sale is in line with DOF Group's strategy to divest in the oldest part of the fleet. Last month, Skandi Niteroi, a Brazilian built pipelay support vessel (PLSV) owned by the joint venture between DOF Subsea (50%) and TechnipFMC (50%), awarded a contract by McDermott on the Atlanta Project for Queiroz Galvão. Under the joint venture agreement, TechnipFMC is responsible for the engineering and management of the flexible pipelay, while Norskan S.A., a DOF ASA subsidiary, is responsible for the marine operations.

Skandi Paraty Delivered and On-hire

Skandi Paraty, owned by Norskan Offshore Ltda, has been delivered from the yard and went on-hire on a four years contract with Petrobras.   Skandi Paraty is an AHTS, Vard AH11 design, and is the last vessel in a series of three, all built at Vard Niteroi in Brazil.

Massive FPSO Modules Installed at Brasa Shipyard

Mammoet, a service provider specializing in engineered heavy lifting and transport, said it has completed a module weighing and transport project in Brasa Shipyard, Brazil. In July 2015, SBM Offshore awarded Mammoet Brazil a contract for the weighing and transport of construction modules for the floating production storage and offloading (FPSO) vessels Cidade de Maricá & Cidade de Saquarema, both located at Brasa Shipyard (Niteroi - Rio de Janeiro). The operation for the FPSO Cidade de Maricá is now complete.

Brazil Navy expands network to 10 AXYS 3 Meter buoys

XYS Technologies Inc (AXYS) recently shipped two 3-Meter buoys for the Centro de Hidrografia da Marinha (CHM) of the Diretoria de Hidrografia e Navegacao (DHN) in Niteroi. The buoys will be added to the PNBOIA (GOOS-Brasil) buoy network, bringing the total number of 3-Meter buoys owned by the Navy to ten. The buoys will be deployed offshore in an effort to provide complete coverage of the Brazil coastline. They will be integrated using AXYS’ reliable WatchMan500 controller and various sensors to measure directional waves, currents, wind speed and direction, air pressure, air temperature, relative humidity and solar radiation. Real-time data will be sent to Brazil Navy officials via ARGOS and/or Inmarsat satellite telemetry.

Petrobras HQ Raided by Brazil Police

Brazil's Federal Police raided the headquarters of state-run oil company Petroleo Brasileiro SA in Rio de Janeiro as part of a money-laundering probe, two sources with direct knowledge of the operation told Reuters on Friday. However, they did not confirm if Petrobras was one of the locations raided. Portuguese for "Operation Car Wash," Operação Lava Jato has already resulted in the arrest of at least one former executive at Petrobras, as the company is known. Petrobras officials were not immediately available for comment.

Rolls-Royce Training Center Opens in Brazil

To better support marine customers in South America, Rolls-Royce has opened a new training center in Brazil, to cater for customers operating the large number of vessels with Rolls-Royce systems that work in country’s deep water oil and gas fields. The center is located at the existing Rolls-Royce Marine Services site in Niteroi, just outside of Rio de Janeiro. It will provide a wide range of training programs, initially in support of winch and dynamic positioning (DP) operations…

Wärtsilä Supports Finland's Rio Olympics Sailing Team

Wärtsilä say they have signed a 3-year logistic agreement with the Finnish Sailing and Boating Federation with Wärtsilä’s new site in Niteroi, Rio de Janeiro, offering a perfect location and valued logistical services to the Finnish top sailors. The Finnish sailors’ training program for the 2016 summer Olympics includes a number of training camps and the test events on the future Olympic sailing courses. Due to intercontinental distances the sailors are forced to leave their equipment for long-term storage between their visits in Rio waters.

SENER Opens Office in Brazil

The engineering and technology group SENER has opened an office in São Paulo, Brazil. SENER thus establishes an operating and permanent division in this Latin American country, made up of about 300 Brazilian professionals specialized in engineering and construction that will carry out projects in the fields of Power and Process, Civil engineering and Architecture, Aerospace and Marine engineering. Furthermore, SENER premises in Brazil also include an office in Rio de Janeiro.

Rolls-Royce Secures £100 Million Contract

Rolls-Royce, a global power systems company, has announced an order worth more than £100 million to supply integrated power and propulsion systems for seven offshore drilling vessels in Brazil. The ships will be built at the Atlântico Sul shipyard for Brazilian oil company Petrobras. Rolls-Royce will equip each of the seven vessels, which will satisfy local content requirements, with six large thrusters and six Bergen diesel generator sets. Together, the systems will be used to propel the vessels to and from drill sites and to accurately maintain their positioning during drilling operations. Tony Wood, Rolls-Royce, President – Marine said: “We are delighted to announce this significant order in Brazil for our new customer, Atlântico Sul.

STX Norway Offshore to Build AHT Supply Vessels

STX Norway Offshore has through its subsidiary STX Brazil Offshore entered into two new contracts for Norskan Offshore for the building of two Anchor Handling Tug Supply (AHTS) of AH 11 design. The vessels are scheduled for delivery in 2012 and 2013. These vessels are the first of the new AH 11 design from STX Norway Offshore Design in Ålesund, designed with special focus on deep water operations. STX Norway Offshore to Build AHTS in Brazil

STX Norway Offshore has through its subsidiary STX Brazil Offshore entered into a new contract for the building of one Anchor Handling Tug Supply vessel for Norskan Offshore in Brazil. The vessel is scheduled for delivery at the end of 2013. This vessel is the third in a series of new AH 11 designs from STX Norway Offshore Design. We currently have a total of seven vessels under construction for DOF in Brazil. Norskan Offshore is a subsidiary of DOF ASA. The vessel is designed by STX Norway Offshore Design in Ålesund, Norway, and will be built at STX Brazil Offshore in Niteroi, Brazil.

Rolls-Royce $80.2M Deep Water Anchor Handling Contract

Rolls-Royce, the global power systems company, has been awarded a contract by STX OSV Trading to supply technologically advanced anchor handling systems. The equipment will be installed on three vessels operated by offshore services company Norskan for use in deep water oil and gas fields off the coast of Brazil. The contract is valued at over $80.2m and includes the supply of a range of innovative Rolls-Royce technologies. STX OSV standardises on AVEVA Marine for all engineering and 3D design; Technology will be implemented in ten shipyards globally. AVEVA has announced STX OSV has standardised its engineering and 3D design work on AVEVA Marine and has purchased more than 100 additional software licenses. The technology, which STX OSV has selected over Tribon and a competitive solution, will be implemented globally across ten shipyards. “We are pleased to confirm our first project’s critical path in the design process was reduced by 30%", added Magne Bakke, Chief Operating Officer, STX OSV AS.

Rolls-Royce wins a £24 million order to design & equip four platform supply vessels (PSVs) for Brazilian ship owner Bravante Group. The UT 775 SE PSVs are designed to carry deck cargo, pipes and diesel oil to and from offshore oil and gas platforms. They will be chartered by Petrobras. Bravante Group will build the vessels at their ship yard in Niteroi, Brazil, as they have done for previous orders. In addition to the design, Rolls-Royce will supply a wide range of onboard equipment including Azipull and bow thrusters…

STX Europe New Shipyard in Brazil

STX Europe will expand its shipbuilding capacity for Offshore & Specialized vessels by setting up a new shipyard. The yard will be located in Fortaleza, in the Ceará state of Brazil. STX Europe has since the acquisition of the Niteroi shipyard in 2001 successfully delivered more than twenty vessels in the range from platform supply vessels to anchor handling tug supply vessels, ROV and pipelaying construction vessels. The yard has in the last few months received orders for three new advanced PSV offshore vessels, and has now eight vessels in the backlog for delivery up to 2013.
