Wilhelmsen Ships Service has further strengthened its presence in Switzerland by appointing Eivind Eriksen as General Manager for Wilhelmsen Ships Service Switzerland.

Despite being a landlocked country, Switzerland is an important location on the maritime map. “Recently, we have seen an increased geographical move of customers towards Switzerland. As such, there is a great commercial potential in this area, and thus it is important to strengthen our presence. Eivind’s vast experience in the maritime industry and his extensive network make him the ideal person for the job,” said Salvatore Previti, Area Director Southern Europe and North Africa, Wilhelmsen Ships Service.

In his new role Eivind will be responsible to further develop Wilhelmsen Ships Service’s commercial presence in this significant area. “In Geneva alone there are more than 300 charterers and traders, and the majority of our customers are from within this sector. In addition, we also work closely with ship owners and operators from the region,” said Eivind Eriksen.

Eivind has worked in ship owning, management and agency in various locations around the world. Before the establishment of Wilhelmsen Ships Service, Eivind was General Manager for Barwil in London and more recently General Manager for the Barwil sales office in Oslo, covering customers in Scandinavia and Germany. Prior to accepting his current post he was working as Business Development Manager for the ships agency business in Europe.

Eivind will be supported by Account Managers Jean Michel Royere and Erik Michiels. Both Jean Michel and Erik are currently working with Wilhelmsen Ships Service’s Swiss customers and will continue their successful efforts. The sales team is supported by Martaxelle Erussard, as Sales Support Coordinator. All members of the team have extensive experience from within the maritime industry.
