Europa 2 to Call Cuba for the First Time

Sun, sand and Caribbean ‘joi de vivre’ – Hapag-Lloyd Cruises’ Europa 2 will visit the island of Cuba in the Greater Antilles for the first time on two cruises in October and November 2016. Maiden ports of call are special moments on cruises with Hapag-Lloyd Cruises’ ships and never fail to be a highlight for both the passengers and crew. Titan and T&T Cooperate for Salvage on Chilean Coast

Crowley Maritime Corp. subsidiary Titan Salvage, based in Pompano Beach, Fla., and its partner T&T Salvage, a maritime emergency and salvage company based in Galveston, Texas, recently completed a challenging wreck removal project off the coast of Chile. The job, which involved the removal and scuttling (the process of strategically sinking a shipwreck) of a grounded bulk carrier on Llolleo Beach, required the use of unique, ship-to-shore equipment – such as an aerial téléphérique and a pneumatic pontoon system…

Shipmast Height Detection for MPA Singapore

Singapore Exchange Mainboard-listed Stratech Systems Limited (Stratech) announced that it has been awarded a S$1.16m contract by the Maritime and Port Authority (MPA) of Singapore to design, implement and maintain the next-generation Shipmast Height Detection System (SHDS). The ability to provide vessel or shipmast height detection is crucial for waterways that require minimum height clearance. The new SHDS is designed to monitor in real-time the height of marine vessels passing through the waterway at Sentosa Island, which could pose a threat to the safety of Sentosa’s cable car operations. The system will detect and alarm MPA personnel upon any violation, thereby ensuring that MPA’s ship height regulations are adhered to.

TITAN Completes New Carissa Wreck Removal in Coos Bay

The last visible piece of the stern section of the New Carissa was removed on September 23. After four months of work and several days of diving to clear the seabed of the final 50 tons of debris, the last load of New Carissa scrap landed at the Empire dock in on September 29. With the removal earlier this week of TITAN's two jackup barges, the Karlissa A and Karlissa B, which were raised 40 feet above the surf zone, the wreck removal was done.
