Vineyard Wind Taps ThayerMahan for Subsea Survey

Vineyard Wind, a joint venture between Avangrid Renewables, a subsidiary of AVANGRID, Inc. and Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners (CIP), announced a partnership with autonomous maritime solutions company ThayerMahan for seabed and infrastructure survey and inspection work in the waters off southern Massachusetts.Based in Groton, Conn., ThayerMahan, specializes in seabed surveys, acoustic mitigation and monitoring, and other maritime related services and has facilities in Connecticut and Massachusetts.

Webb Institute Adds Assistant Professor of Marine Engineering

Webb Institute has appointed Benjamin H. Scott as the Assistant Professor of Marine Engineering. Scott is a design engineer with over 30 years of experience in thermal and hydraulic analysis, heat exchanger design, thermal performance testing and fluid system design. Scott recently retired from Exelon Corporation as the senior manager of design engineering at their Calvert Cliffs Nuclear Power Plant in Lusby, Md., where he oversaw a staff of 60 multidiscipline engineers responsible for all plant modifications and improvements…

Leadership Changes at Huntington Ingalls Industries

U.S. shipbuilder Huntington Ingalls Industries (HII) announced today a number of changes across its leadership team. HII’s Board of Directors has elected Christopher D. Kastner to succeed Barbara A. Niland as the company’s chief financial officer and corporate vice president, business management, effective with Niland’s retirement on March 1, 2016. Furthermore Philip Luna, corporate vice president and president, UniversalPegasus International (UPI), a subsidiary of HII, has been promoted to the HII senior executive team, effective immediately.

Seattle Seawall Construction Contract for Jacobs

Jacobs Engineering Group Inc. has been awarded a contract from the Seattle Department of Transportation (SDOT) for Construction Management Services on the Elliott Bay Seawall Project (EBSP) in Seattle, Wash. Officials estimate the construction value to be $300 million for Phase 1 of the project. Under the terms of the contract, Jacobs is managing the construction of approximately 3,700 feet of new seawall infrastructure in an urban waterfront area that supports public recreation, tourism and commerce. Energy industry project & construction management firm Universal Pegasus International (UPI) appoint two senior vice-presidents. The company name Tom Davison as Senior Vice President of Onshore Operations and Martin Morrison as Senior Vice President of Offshore Operations. In his role, Davison is responsible for the overall management, performance and growth of business for Onshore Operations at Universal Pegasus International. Imtech: Number of Marine Service and Maintenance Contracts to 5,000

Imtech (technical services provider in Europe and on the global marine market) is observing a substantial increase in the number of marine service and maintenance contracts managed by Imtech. Recently Imtech signed a new global partnership agreement for 350 vessels operated by an international ship operator in Hong Kong, which granted Imtech a preferred service vendor status. As a result, Imtech passed the 5,000 mark for ships under various types of contract and partnership agreements. In addition, the company renewed its existing contract for the maintenance of technical infrastructure on all NAM drilling rigs in the North Sea. Imtech is also observing further growth in the number of technical conversions and renovations, for which the company gained several new orders.

Survival Craft Inspectorate wins Shell contract

Safety specialist Survival Craft Inspectorate wins multimillion-pound Shell contract. Aberdeen-based marine safety specialist Survival Craft Inspectorate has secured a multimillion pound contract to supply and service life-saving equipment in Shell’s Southern North Sea sector. The three-year contract follows a successful tender to AJS, the joint venture set up by AMEC, Jacobs Engineering, and Stork Industry Services to deliver the ONEgas integrated services contract. Aker Solutions Q1 Results 2011

6 May 2011 - Aker Solutions' operating revenues in the first quarter of 2011 were NOK 12 billion, and earnings before interest, tax, depreciation and amortisation amounted to NOK 1.8 billion, including profit from asset sales and non-recurring items. "The streamlining of our business is nearly complete, and Kvaerner is scheduled to be listed on the Oslo Stock Exchange in July. Solid first quarter earnings and gains from strategic asset divestments have generated a NOK 1 billion net cash position.

TVA Uses Ellicott Dredge for Cleanup

Three months after a massive coal ash spill, the Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA) has begun dredging the ashen byproduct of coal-generated electricity from the Emory River using an Ellicott Series 370 "Dragon" dredge. Exmar Applies for Domain Concession for Construction of LNG

Exmar has applied to MBZ, the Zeebrugge Port Authority, for a domain concession for the construction of a discharging and ship-to-ship transfer installation for LNG and high pressure natural gas in the Port of Zeebrugge (Belgium). Zeebrugge. Belgian and European gas markets, EXMAR wishes to build a new discharging and ship-to-ship transfer infrastructure in the Port of Zeebrugge. This infrastructure will be fully compatible with that already existing and will further strengthen the position Belgium commands as a supply and transit country for natural gas in Europe. For the construction and development of the new infrastructure, EXMAR is working closely together with such companies as Ondernemingen Jan De Nul (dredging), Praxair, Jacobs Engineering, ERM and ECOLAS.

Jacobs Acquires Engineering Firm

Jacobs Engineering Group Inc. has acquired W.H. Linder & Associates, Inc., an upstream/offshore engineering firm based in Metairie, La.; and Houston, Texas. Officials did not disclose the terms of the acquisition. Linder is a full-service, multidisciplinary consulting engineering firm with over 300 people and 25 years of experience in the upstream/offshore market. They offer a comprehensive suite of engineering and support services; with their core services tailored to the oil & gas sector. Jacobs operates from two major locations on the U.S. Gulf Coast (Houston and Baton Rouge), and serves their oil, gas, refining, chemical, and aerospace clients from those locations.
