McAllister Towing, of New York, recently purchased U.S. flag tugs Sea Racer
and Puerto Nuevo from Crowley Marine Services, of Seattle.
Sea Racer, originally built by Pacific Coast Engineering in 1966, measures 121 ft., and is powered by a single EMD 16-645E5, generating 2,875 bhp. The vessel will be renamed Buckley McAllister. Puerto Nuevo, a 96 ft., 1,530 bhp twin-screw tug, was built in 1964 by Equitable Equipment. The vessel is powered with twin CAT D398As and was on charter to McAllister at the time of the purchase.
Other recent sales include:
· Westview Dredging of British Columbia, Canada, has purchased 200 x 60 x 12 ft. ocean deck barge Barge 216 from Crowley Marine Services. Barge 216 was originally built by Jeffboat in 1970.
· Promar, Inc. of Rockport, Texas has sold 65 ft. utility boat Nimrod III, built in 1982 by Steiner Shipyard to Venezuelan buyers. The vessel will be deleted from the U.S. Registry, and taken to Venezuela for service in oilfield support.
· Tidewater Marine, Inc., of New Orleans, has sold two crewboats, Murdoch Tide and Smith Tide to Coloured Fin Ltd. of Trinidad and Tobago. The 65 x 20 x 8.5 ft. sister ships were built by Lantana Boatyard of Florida. They will be repositioned and will work in the ship services business.
· Taurus Marine of California has purchased 41 ft. aluminum crewboat Devon from Sylvester Tug, Morro Bay, Calif. The 41 x 13 ft. vessel, built in 1971, will be used in San Francisco Bay.
