The Coast Guard is reponding to limit pollution of the sea in the area 9 miles SW of Port Sulphur (on W. bank of the Mississippi) Louisiana. Coast Guard Sector New Orleans watchstanders received a report Tuesday that the 42-foot crewboat Sea Raider, allided with a wellhead owned by Swift Energy, causing the platform to discharge an oily-water mixture. Swift Energy, the responsible party, has contracted a barge to secure the wellhead.

HII Apprentices Graduate
Huntington Ingalls Industries (HII) hosts the graduation ceremony for the company's Apprentice School at Newport News Shipbuilding (NNS). The graduation, held at Liberty Baptist Church Worship Center in Hampton, celebrated the achievements of 206 apprentices representing 21 trades. Retired Navy Adm. Tim Keating served as the commencement speaker and shared some of his personal experiences with NNS-built aircraft carriers and submarines and their impact on national security.
More Arctic Norwegian Shelf Resources Mapped
The Norwegian Petroleum Directorate’s (NPD’s) mapping of the southeastern Barents Sea and the area surrounding Jan Mayen shows 15% increase. The increase will result in an approximate increase of 15 per cent in the estimates of undiscovered resources on the Norwegian shelf which corresponds to about 390 million standard cubic metres (Sm3) of oil equivalents (o.e.). The mapping of these petroleum resources is a step in the authorities’ process to open these areas for petroleum activity.

Johnson Stevens, III, to serve as the new president of the company, succeeding his father, William J. “Bill” Stevens, Jr. Bill will serve as chairman of the board and as chief executive officer.
