Kvichak Delivers for the NYPD

Kvichak, a Vigor company, delivered a fourth, 45-foot Response Boat - Medium C (RB-M C) to its longtime customer, the New York Police Department Harbor Unit. The Kvichak RB-M C is the commercial variant of the Response Boat - Medium (RB-M), purpose built for the U.S. Coast Guard. To date, 174 RB-Ms have been delivered to the Coast Guard. The vessel was designed by Kvichak in partnership with Camarc Design for high speed and high performance, including tactical handling and specialized mission capabilities, the shipbuilder said.

FDNY Boat Named for Firefighter Lost on 9/11

Construction of FDNY’s newest fireboat, William M. Feehan, has been completed by shipbuilder MetalCraft Marine Incorporated, and is slated for delivery and christening in the coming weeks. The name of the new boat honors veteran firefighter William Feehan, who at 71 was the oldest of 343 firefighters to pass away in the line of duty on September 11, 2001. The vessel’s nameplate, displayed prominently alongside the cabin, is milled from an I-beam lifted from the rubble of the World Trade Center.

Kvichak Building 4th Response Boat for NYPD

Kvichak Marine Industries, a Vigor Company, is currently constructing the fourth 44.5-foot Response Boat Medium – C (RB-M C) for the New York Police Department (NYPD) Harbor Unit. The first three vessels were delivered in April 2010, August 2012 and April 2013. The RB-M C’s have been providing maritime security and law enforcement along with search and rescue in the New York metropolitan area. “The RB-M C has proven itself in the most challenging missions,” said Art Parker, Vigor sales manager. These all-aluminum vessels are designed by Camarc Design, U.K.

Munson Delivers Fireboat to Vancouver

Munson Boats announced its latest delivery of a 46’ Type IV Fire Emergency Response Vessel for the City of Vancouver Fire Department. Fully designed and built by Munson Boats in Burlington, Wash. the new vessel will operate in the lower Columbia River and can respond to incidents from Astoria, Ore. to Lewiston, Idaho. Twin Scania DI13-77M diesels producing a total of 1,500 horsepower are coupled to Hamilton 364 waterjets to achieve speeds in excess of 32 knots. The fire pump system delivers a maximum 2,500 gallons per minute (GPM) to eight fire hose hydrants and three available monitors.

Seattle Shipyard Delivers Third NYPD Boat

Kvichak Marine Industries, of Seattle, WA, recently delivered a third 44.5’ Response Boat Medium to the New York Police Department Harbor Unit. The first two RB-M C’s were delivered in April 2010 and August 2012. Both have been providing maritime security and law enforcement along with search and rescue in the New York metropolitan area. These all-aluminum vessels are designed by Camarc Design, UK and powered by tier II compliant twin Detroit Diesel 60 series engines rated for 825 BHP each coupled to Twin Disc MG5114SC marine gears.

Second RB-M C Delivered to NYPD

Kvichak Marine Industries, of Seattle, WA, recently delivered the second 44.5’ Response Boat Medium – C (RB-M C) to the New York City Police Harbor Unit. The first hull, P.O. Edward Byrne, has been in service since April 2010 providing maritime security and law enforcement along with search and rescue in the New York metropolitan area. Whale Watcher Delivered to Aquarium

Gladding-Hearn Shipbuilding has delivered a new high-speed whale watcher for the New England Aquarium. The 112-ft. Voyager III, designed by Incat Designs, Sydney, Australia, carries 325 passengers, and is powered by two Detroit Diesel 12V2000 engines, turning Hamilton HM461 waterjets via Twin Disc gears. Each engine produces 965 bhp @ 2,100 rpm, reaching speeds of 30 knots when fully loaded. Passengers can view whales from the vessel's three decks and bow pulpits. Voyager III's 30 ft. beam provides for two heated cabins with upholstered seating for 190 passengers, tables, two snack bars and four heads. Open seating is on the second deck, flybridge and along the walk-around side decks.
