Palau Ship Registry Reaches Panama

Palau International Ship Registry (PISR) said it has expanded its global reach into 29 countries with a total of 42 Deputy Registrar offices around the globe. The maritime hub of Panama is one of the PISR offices to deliver state of the art registration services and has now appointed Melyssa Alejandra Barrios, Deputy Registrar for PISR. Clayton To Join Clarkson Board

Kraken Announced Executive Appointments

PPG Announces Executive Appointments

PG Industries today announced executive appointments effective June 1. Vince Morales, currently vice president, investor relations, will become vice president, investor relations, and treasurer. Morales will report to Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer Frank Sklarsky. Since joining PPG in 1985, Morales has advanced through various finance leadership roles of increasing responsibility. He was appointed to his current position in 2007. Morales earned a Bachelor of Science from Robert Morris University and an MBA from The Ohio State University. Executive Appointments at Long Beach Port

The Long Beach Board of Harbor Commissioners recently filled key Harbor Department executive posts with staff veterans as the Department continues to undergo a reorganization initiated by Chief Executive Jon Slangerup. Dr. Noel Hacegaba, who has been serving as the Acting Deputy Executive Director/Chief Operating Officer since June 2013, was named as the new Managing Director of Commercial Operations/Chief Commercial Officer. Prior to the 2013 acting appointment, Hacegaba was Executive Officer to the Board of Harbor Commissioners, a position he was named to in July 2010. The newly created Commercial Operations Bureau, overseen now by Hacegaba, includes the Business Development, Security Services, and Tenant Services & Operations divisions.

Carnival UK Announces Executive Appointments

Carnival Corporation & plc announced that David Dingle has been appointed chairman of Carnival UK and David Noyes, currently executive vice president operations, has been promoted to the CEO role, with operating responsibility for the UK-based brands P&O Cruises and Cunard Line. Dingle and Noyes will take up their new roles on October 1, and will both report to Carnival Corporation & plc president and CEO Arnold Donald. “This moves allows us to strengthen further our overall leadership in the critically important UK marketplace, while also promoting from within to leverage the skills, experience and capabilities of our executive team,” Donald said.

Change of Guard at BIMCO

BIMCO has announced that its new Secretary General/CEO to succeed Mr Torben C. Skaanild on his retirement later this year will be Mr Angus R. Frew, currently Chief Executive of the UK Chamber of Shipping. The appointment of Mr Frew was unanimously approved last week by the BIMCO Executive Committee at its meeting in Shanghai. It is expected that Mr Frew, who will be relocating to Denmark, will take up his appointment on 1st October 2013. Mr Skaanild will continue in a support role to the new Secretary General, and the incoming President of BIMCO, for a period of six months thereafter.

BP US Leadership Changes

John Mingé, Regional President BP Alaska, appointed Chairman/President of BP Americas Inc., succeeded by Janet Weiss. John Mingé, has served as head of BP’s Alaska business since January 1, 2009. He will be based in Houston, where he will serve as BP’s lead representative in the US. “BP’s history in Alaska stretches back more than five decades and it is one of the largest and most important businesses in BP’s global portfolio,” Mr. Mingé said. Ms. Weiss serves currently in Alaska as Regional Vice President, Resources, accountable for resource progression and subsurface activities, as well as for IT. Tom Faherty has been promoted to President of Trinity Marine Products, replacing Paul Mauer, now Chief Operations Officer for TrinityRail.
