Grimaldi Group has been elected General Motors’ supplier of the year due to its overall outcome as logistics provider. The award was granted during a ceremony held Saturday 3rd of April at the Hilton Hotel in Prague.

Bo Andersson, GM’s Worldwide Purchasing Production Control and Logistics Vice President said “Grimaldi- Naples Group represents the type of company with which we want to grow along our journey towards being the best in the world. Grimaldi Group’s service level and working method are able to put up with GM’s priorities. The company is a model for all of our suppliers,” he stated.

Group Grimaldi- Naples’ Managing Director Emanuele Grimaldi said “it is an honour for us to receive the General Motors’ Award as Supplier of the Year for the third time. It proves our Group’s commitment to offering high quality transport services to the largest automotive manufacturers worldwide. Receiving this award encourages us to further enhance the quality of our services so as to satisfy GM’s expectations,” he stated.

GM’s Award as Supplier of the Year started as global program in 1992. Award winners are chosen from a global group of Purchasing, Designing, Production and Logistics Managing Directors who make their decisions based on their suppliers’ quality, service, technology and price.

This year, General Motors has awarded 77 suppliers for their excellence during 2003. Group Grimaldi Naples, with a modern Ro-Ro ship, car carriers and car ferries fleet, is a devoted supplier of integrated logistics and a well-established carrier, working with several large automotive manufacturers. Thanks to a 1.3 billion Euro fleet modernizing and enlarging plan, the Group now has more than 50 modern and technologically advanced ships, with an average age of only four years.

During 2003, Grimaldi Group has transported 1.5 billion cars and other rolling units, 400,000 containers and trailers to more than 100 ports around the world through all of its maritime services in Northern Europe, the Mediterranean, Western Africa, North and South America.
