Straightforward Safety from Schat-Harding

Maritime Activity Reports, Inc.

February 19, 2008

Lifeboat and davit manufacturer Schat-Harding is making its global service network available to all shipowners by offering a fixed term multi-brand Fleet Service Agreement covering all lifeboats, davits, hooks and winches for any shipowner. The Fleet Service Agreement provides a fixed point of contact for all lifeboat and davit matters, and fixed pricing for annual and five yearly services in key ports designated by the shipowner. It is a new and unique service agreement.

Some shipowners are complaining that complying with MSC1206 can be both costly and complex, as it requires that all LSA equipment be serviced by engineers authorised by the Original Equipment Manufacturer. For ships with mixed equipment this is a particular problem. Schat-Harding's Fleet Service Agreement helps owners overcome that and benefit from well maintained equipment. The FSA guarantees shipowners compliance with IMO MSC1206 guidelines and the latest regulations, guarantees access to its world wide network of service engineers, provides fixed price servicing and discounts on original spare parts, and allows owners to track the status of their equipment online through the SHIELD database. SHIELD is the cornerstone of an effective preventative maintenance system for lifeboats, davits and associated equipment. It records ship details, product identification, service records and certification for the life of the vessel. In a typical mixed fleet with a number of different boats, davits and other equipment SHIELD is the only tool which shipowners can use to collect and maintain the vital information needed to ensure the equipment is looked after correctly by engineers authorized by the Original Equipment Manufacturer. At the click of a mouse it tells owners what needs to be done and when, and Schat-Harding Fleet Service Agreement clients can be assured it will be done, with the right parts, by the right people, on time.
