Conrad Industries held a ribbon cutting ceremony yesterday at its new repair and conversion facility in Amelia, La. Several local politicians were on hand including, Bill Cefalu, St. Mary Parish President; Representative Jack Smith, Louisiana District 50; Representative Carla Dartez, Louisiana District 51; State Senator D. A. “Butch” Gautreaux, Louisiana District 21; Dr. Tim Tregle, Mayor of Morgan City; and Emile Babin, President & CEO of the St. Mary Parish Chamber of Commerce; Also in attendance were customers, suppliers, and employees of Conrad Industries,
Inc.
Kenneth G. “Jerry” Myers, Jr., Conrad’s President and CEO commented, “We are happy to christen this new repair and conversion facility and are extremely excited about the strategic advantages that this facility provides Conrad. The company has moved its two largest drydocks and plans to move two
additional drydocks to the facility before the end of Ap ril 2003. The new facility allows the company to handle deeper draft vessels than the company has been able to service at its other facilities and therefore opens up a market niche from which the company has historically been limited from participating.”
