Phillips 66 Marine Fueling Facility Nears Completion

Maritime Activity Reports, Inc.

July 24, 2014

Phillips 66’s previously announced marine over-the-water fueling facility at its Richmond, Calif. terminal is nearing completion. The facility, located on Canal Boulevard, and known as Pier No.12 in the Richmond Harbor, is scheduled to come online in early September 2014.

Completion of this project will provide logistical advantages, including the ability to load diesel barges at Phillips 66’s facilities. This addition will enhance safety while loading and improve the company’s ability to deliver product that is in demand to its Bay Area customers.

The new facility will feature fueling of tug and workboats operating in San Francisco Bay. Fueling will be accomplished by a three-inch line with dry breaks, and the product flow rate can be calibrated to a vessel’s ability to take onshore flow.

In addition, Phillips 66 will provide certified 140 plus flash marine diesel at the terminal’s truck loading rack. The truck rack will deliver consistent quality in flash level to marine customers who require diesel in various quantities and remote locations.

Phillips 66 said it has invested in this infrastructure to meet the needs of our marine service providers in the San Francisco Bay, and to meet demand for low-sulfur diesel required for vessels operating within the 200-mile limit of the coastline. The Richmond Marine Terminal is well-positioned logistically to provide fueling service for the Ports of Oakland and San Francisco.
