Ecospeed for Container Vessels in Dubai

Thursday, January 06, 2011

Within a couple of weeks two container vessels had their rudders coated with Ecospeed in the same shipyard in Dubai. Earlier several other vessels of the same owner were also given the same treatment. The decision to use Ecospeed was made by the shipowner after cavitation damage had appeared on the rudders of several of his container vessels. These rudders are given lasting protection by Ecospeed against rudder cavitation which will prevent similar damage from occurring again. Ecospeed is designed to remain intact for the lifetime of the vessel and is guaranteed for ten years. This is to ensure the rudders will not have to be repainted during future drydockings and extensive repairs will not be needed. The coating also provides hydrodynamic conditions for rudders to operate at maximum efficiency.
