Subsea 7 Secures Contract Offshore Egypt

Offshore services provider Subsea 7 S.A. announced today it has been awarded a contract from Burullus Gas Company S.A.E. for the platform extension and tie-in on the first phase of the West Nile Delta development of the Taurus and Libra fields by BP, offshore Egypt. Subsea 7 did not specify a precise contract value, but called the award ā€œsizableā€ in the range of $50 million to $150 million. Subsea 7 said engineering and project management work will commence immediately and will be undertaken at its Cairo office and Global Projects Center in London.

Saipem Wins Egyptian, North Sea, Russian Contracts

Saipem has been awarded new E&C Offshore contracts in Egypt, in the North Sea and in Russia, worth in excess of $1 billion. In Egypt, Burullus Gas Company awarded Saipem the EPIC contract for new subsea developments in the area of the West Delta Deep Marine Concession, located about 90 km offshore the Northwest Nile delta, at water depths between 400 and 1,000 m. The development encompasses the engineering, procurement, construction and installation of a total of seven new subsea wellheads and relevant infrastructures, umbilicals and flowlines.

M/V Antoine, Bulk Carrier Delivered

Mitsui Engineering & Shipbuilding Co., Ltd., (MES) completed and delivered a 56,000 dwt type bulk carrier M/V Antoine (MES Hull No. 1735) at its Chiba Works to the owner Palma Trading Corporation, Liberia on 26th March, 2009. This vessel is a handy-max type bulk carrier of 56,000 dwt with a huge cargo hold capacity over 70,000 m3 and marks the 82nd ship of its series. This 56,000 dwt type bulk carrier series of MES is widely called Mitsuiā€™s 56. More than 150 units of this series have been ordered to MES.

Mobile Yard Stays Busy With Offshore Work

Even before the September 11 terrorist attacks in New York City and Washington, D.C., the offshore market in the Gulf of Mexico had shown signs of weakening. However one shipyard - Atlantic Marine-Mobile - has reported a steady flow of work with the award of several, substantial offshore refurbishment contracts in recent months. The shipyard in Mobile has a long history with the offshore market, but it notes that 2001 has been particularly busy. Semi-submersible and jack-up rigs have occupied the Mobile, Alabama facility throughout 2001. The influx of offshore work includes the following. ENSCO International's jack-up rig ENSCO 68, arrived in Mobile in late March.
