MAN B&W Diesel A/S won the contract to supply three 9L21/31 Holeby GenSets as main power source for a new 3,000 dwt Patrol Vessel newbuilding under construction for the China State Oceanic Administration
, Beijing. The vessel will also be equipped with a 6L16/24 harbor GenSet
, which can operate in parallel with the main GenSets.
The patrol vessel will be built by the Jiangnan Shipyard, Shanghai, China
. The newbuilding is scheduled for delivery towards the end of 2004.
Like the earlier Diesel-Mechanical MAN B&W-powered 1,000 dwt type II vessel ordered in parallel, this Diesel-Electric 3000 DWT vessel was also designed by MARIC.

The Diesel-Electric propulsion plant is based on triple nine cylinder L21/31 MAN B&W medium-speed engines with ABB type AMG 560 L6 alternators, driving two propellers/podded thrusters, which will be speed controlled via an ABB-supplied DTC frequency converter system. A total main engine output of 5,635kW (7,660 BHP) will supply the power for the ships hotel load and a maximum speed of 18 knots – and a service/cruising speed of 15 knots.
