APM Terminals Wins South America Calls on New Asian Service
Direct services between Asia and the East Coast of South America will begin port calls at APM Terminals Buenos Aires, Argentina, and APM Terminals Itajaí, Brazil. The joint service deployed by Hapag-Lloyd, NYK, ZIM, Hyundai and Hamburg Sud prefers their vessels call APM Terminals' facilities in Itajai (Brazil) and T4 in Buenos Aires (Argentina). The weekly Asian service, operated jointly with 13 vessels from Hapag-Lloyd, NYK, Zim, Hamburg Süd and Hyundai, will call the Asian ports of Kelang, Singapore, Qingdao, Shanghai, Ningbo, Hong Kong, Shekou and Busan. The service will begin August 25th with the arrival of the first vessel into Terminal 4 Buenos Aires.
Maersk Saigon Runs Aground in Brazil
The container ship Maersk Saigon left the fairway and grounded near near buoy 2A at Santos port channel during departure from the terminal. Maersk Saigon was grounded during her departure manoeuvre at the BTP Terminal in Santos, Brazil. The vessel’s crew is safe and no one was injured, says a statement from the company. It is currently safely anchored awaiting inspections to assess possible damage before continuing to its destination. The Maersk Line ship was operating on the ASAS service and was bound for Port Elizabeth, South Africa when the grounding occurred. No injuries were reported and there is no evidence of environmental pollution. The Port Authority has initiated an investigation to ascertain the cause of the incident and those responsible.
CMA CGM Launches Three New Joint Services, Restructures Routes
In view of continuous challenging trading conditions effective from July 2013 CMA CGM, Maersk Line, Hamburg Süd, CSAV, China Shipping Container Lines and Hanjin will restructure their services between the Far East and South America East Coast by launching three new joint services. -ASAS 2/NGX 2/SEAS 2/ASAX 2: Currently operated by Maersk Line, Hamburg Süd, CSAV, CMA CGM and China Shipping Container Lines. -SEAS 1/ASAX 1: Currently operated by CSAV, CMA CGM and China Shipping Container Lines. -ASAS 1/NGX 1: Currently operated by Maersk Line and Hamburg Süd.

Far East, South America Service Upgrade
To further improve the service quality and to cater for the market growth Maersk Line together with service partner Hamburg Süd are pleased to announce the following changes to our service network. We are currently phasing in the SAMMAX and Santa class vessels in the current ASAS service. These vessels are custom built for this trade with a nominal capacity of 7500 teu and 1700 plugs. In conjunction with this upgrade we will open a 2nd service as from July. This will make up the most comprehensive coverage in the trade and is further strengthened by our networks in Asia and Latin America.
Hamburg Süd, Maersk Line to continue ASAS/NGX Service
