First Tanker Built at Baku Shipyard Launched

President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev has attended a ceremony to launch the first tanker built at Baku Shipyard on the order of the Azerbaijan Caspian Sea Shipping Closed Joint-Stock Company (ACSC).The first oil tanker 'Lachin' was built by local specialists on the design of the Odessa Bureau of Marine Engineering. The 7,875-ton tanker is 141 meters long and 16.9 meters wide.The tanker can pass through the Volga-Don canal and has the maximum load capacity. Unlike others, it is capable of passing through this canal with a cargo of more than 4,000-5,000 tons."The Lachin tanker will not only provide transportation of oil and oil products in the Caspian, but also the transportation of liquid cargo to other basins through the Volga-Don and Volga-Baltic canals.

ASCO Overhauls 'Zangazur' Tanker

Azerbaijan Caspian Shipping Company (ASCO) said that ā€œZangezurā€, a tanker owned by Marine Transport Fleet, has been overhauled.The overhaul of the vessel at the Zykh Shipyard has been successfully completed, said the Azerbaijani shipping company in a press release.The submersible and surface parts of the ship, the head deck, engine (machine) room and upper body were cleaned and painted in the course of overhaul.Head and auxiliary engines, auxiliary mechanisms, and equipment of Engine (machine) room were repaired. Boat shafts were upgraded and pipe works were carried out on board and in engine room. In addition, electrical installation and automation works were carried out.Besidesā€¦

Subsea Construction Vessel Launched in Azerbaijan

The vessel was named Khankendi by the President of Azerbaijan, H.E. Ilham Aliyev, at a ceremony in Baku Shipyard and launched by the Shah Deniz consortium. Baku Shipyard LLC, a joint venture between Keppel Offshore & Marine Ltd (Keppel O&M), State Oil Company of Azerbaijan Republic (SOCAR) and Azerbaijan Investment Company (AIC), has completed a Subsea Construction Vessel (SCV) for the Caspian region. The Khankendi will be deployed to the Shah Deniz field where it is expected to perform subsea installation and construction work over the next eleven years.

Keppel on Track to Deliver Rig for Caspian Drilling

Keppel Offshore & Marine Ltd (Keppel O&M) through its subsidiary in Azerbaijan, Caspian Shipyard Company (CSC), is on track to deliver a semisubmersible drilling rig to Caspian Drilling Company Ltd, a subsidiary of the State Oil Company of Azerbaijan Republic (SOCAR). The rig was named Heydar Aliyev at a ceremony in Azerbaijan today by the President of Azerbaijan, Ilham Aliyev. Built to Keppel FELS' proprietary DSSTM 38M design, the rig has been customized for the Caspian Sea's harsh environment condition. It is the first modern semisubmersible to be almost completely built in Azerbaijan.

Azerbaijan to Get New Passenger Vessel This Year-end

Azerbaijan Caspian Shipping Company  expects to get the first of the three passenger vessels being built currently at the Baku Shipbuilding & Repair Plant (Baku Shipyard LLC) until the end of 2015, reports the Trend. The cases of all three ships are already built and the company plans to commission the first of three passenger vessels designed for 80 people. Fuel, oil and water tanks have successfully passed hydraulic tests, main engines were mounted, welding on the main deck was finished at the vessel to be commissioned before late 2015, says a statement from the company. The launch of the two remaining vessels is scheduled for 2016. Each vessel has a capacity of 80 passengers, and will also be able to take on board up to 10 tons of various cargoes.

RS Class New Ships for the Caspian Sea

Russian Maritime Register of Shipping (RS) has signed a contract with Baku Shipyard LLC for the construction of three 38Šœ high speed crewboats (designer - SHIPTECH, Singapore) for Azerbaijan State Caspian Sea Shipping Company. Construction is set to begin in August 2014 and the boats are expected to be delivered to the customer by May 2016. Upon completion of construction, the boats will be assigned the RS class notation: KM HSC crewboat. The vessels are designed to transport personnel (up to 80 people) and various types of cargo to mobile offshore drilling units (MODU) and other offshore oil and gas exploration and extraction facilities. According to their specifications, they can operate at up to 100 miles from the coast. ā€¢Crew: eight people.

Caspian Sea Shipyard Wins BP Exploration SCV Contract

Keppel supported Baku Shipyard has won a first major contract from BP Exploration (Shah Deniz) Ltd, the operator of the Shah Deniz gas field development, to design and build a Subsea Construction Vessel (SCV). The contract is worth US$378-million, say the shipyard. When completed, the SCV will be deployed for the Stage 2 development of the Shah Deniz field, which lies some 70 kilometres offshore in the Azerbaijan sector of the Caspian Sea. The Shah Deniz Stage 2 project requires a subsea installation vessel to install the subsea structures over 11 years between 2017 and 2027. The vessel will include dynamic positioning to allow for work in 2.5 metres significant wave height (Hs)ā€¦

Azeri Shipyard, BP Sign Vessel Construction Contract

Azeri state energy company SOCAR's shipyard and British oil major BP have signed a $378 million deal to design and build a subsea construction vessel for the Shah Deniz II gas project, BP said on Wednesday. Azerbaijan's biggest gas field, Shah Deniz is being developed by consortium partners BP, Statoil, SOCAR and others. Shah Deniz I has been pumping gas since 2006 and has an annual production capacity of about 10 billion cubic metres of natural gas. The next phase, Shah Deniz II, is important for Europe in terms of providing an alternative to gas supplies from Russia's Gazprom.

RS, Baku Shipyard Enter Crewboat Agreement

Russian Maritime Register of Shipping (RS) signed an agreement with Baku Shipyard LLC of Azerbaijan for the design approval of project 38Šœ сrewboat high speed craft (designer - SHIPTECH, Singapore). The new boats are intended for the carriage of specialized personnel employed at offshore oil and gas facilities and will be one of the first orders placed with the newly built shipyard in Baku. Under the terms of the design approval agreement, the RS experts are to review the design documentation of five ships under construction for compliance with the new RS requirements as well as other RS applicable normative documents and also, with statutory requirements coming within the terms of RS reference. The new boats will be constructed as part of the Azerbaijan state program for fleet renovation.

Keppel to Build $800 Million Semisubmersible

Keppel Offshore & Marine Ltd. (Keppel O&M) through its subsidiaries Caspian Rigbuilders BV (an affiliated company of Keppel FELS) and Caspian Shipyard Company (CSC), has secured a contract from Caspian Drilling Company Ltd., a subsidiary of the State Oil Company of Azerbaijan Republic (SOCAR), to build a semisubmersible drilling rig, which includes owner furnished equipment, worth about $800 million. Scheduled for delivery in 4Q 2016, the rig will be built to Keppel FELS' proprietary DSSTM 38M design, which has been customised for the Caspian Sea's harsh environment condition. The DSSTM 38M is designed for a drilling depth of up to 40,000ft and operations in 1,000m water depth.

Shipyard Cranes Order for Konecranes

Konecranes has received an order for cranes for a shipyard being built in Baku, Azerbaijan. The order was placed by Baku Shipyard, a joint venture company formed by State Oil Company of Azerbaijan Republic (SOCAR), Keppel Offshore and Marine (KOM), and Azerbaijan Investment Company (AIC). The order comprises one Goliath gantry crane and two portal jib cranes. The cranes will be delivered to the Baku shipyard by 2013. Baku Shipyard will develop a yard that is expected to be ready by the end of 2013.

Keppel Corp. Year End Results for 2010

The Directors of Keppel Corporation Limited advise the following unaudited results of the Group for the full year ended 31 December 2010. The FY 2010 Report Card and the Address by Mr Choo Chiau Beng, Chief Executive Officer, are below. Net profit before exceptional items improved 12% to S$1,419 million, compared to FY 2009's S$1,265 million. 2. Earnings Per Share of 88.7 cents, up 12% from FY 2009's 79.4 cents. 3. ROE remained above 20%. 4. Economic Value Added before exceptional items increased from S$1,026 million to S$1,035 million.
