Over 100 graduate out of I.T.S. “Fondazione G. Caboto”

I.T.S. “Fondazione G. Caboto” continues its incredible growth, counting over 100 graduates following the ceremony held on Friday, February 17th, for the 41 young students who achieved their diplomas in December 2016. This historical milestone confirmed the winning formula of the “I.T.S.” tertiary education model and the Caboto institute in particular, which brings the world of education closer to the labour market and guarantees employment. 50 Students Selected by Italian Ship-Owners

23 letters of employment delivered to new graduates in the presence of the Institutions of the School. Eleven Italian shipping companies “christened” the courses at the I.T.S. Fondazione “G. Caboto” (Caboto Foundation), an Institute of Advanced Technology, addressed to 50 students who will be recruited and taken aboard their ships once having completed the two-year training period, during which they will already have the opportunity to sail the seas worldwide as part of their education.

Viktor Lenac Books Strong Business

In September the shipyard completed repairs on nine vessels with various descriptions on the jobs performed. Standard shiprepair jobs were performed on the 8,945 dwt reefer vessel Hudson Bay, owned by German company Thien & Heyenga, and the 5,782 dwt LPG vessel Gas Century, managed by Cyprus based Hanseatic Shipping. The 18,582 dwt product tanker Calitea, owned by CA LI SA, Italy underwent standard drydock works continuing the good cooperation between the shipyard and the owner (the vessel has been under repair and conversion several times in Viktor Lenac during the last few years). INTERTANKO Announces Gleet Growth

INTERTANKO’s fleet has grown by 12.5% or 21.3m deadweight tons to 194m dwt owned by independent tanker owners as tankers belonging to fifteen owners put up to its Council for their consideration were approved. 16 applications for associate membership were also considered and approved by Council. The two biggest owners entering are Frontline (13.3m dwt) and American Eagle Tankers (6.1m dwt). The next six largest entries are Marmaras Navigation, Sea Fortune Shipping, Estoril Navigation, A.K.Shipping and Trading, Eastwind Shipmanagement, FR8 Shipmanagement, and Calisa SpA, with 1.6m dwt between them. Also JB Ugland, Zest Shipping, FAL Shipping, Transmarine Management, Chemmariner Shipping, with 250,000 dwt between them.

Maritea

Constructed by 3.Maj for Calisa S.P.A. in Augusta, Italy, Maritea is designed for worldwide service, but its primary voyage profile comprises traffic between Mediterranean oil ports/terminals. The 35,000 dwt IMO Type II Chem Carrier boasts several innovations, such as a hull structural design based on direct calculation (FEM) including fatigue criteria, an Integrated Navigation system with ECDIS connection on both radars, controllable pitch propeller (CPP) installation, and high efficiency flap type rudder and bow thruster for enhanced manuevering. The vessel also holds an anchoring and mooring system designed according to OCIMF criteria, and its wheelhouse, which is designed for One Man Bridge Control, has all-round windows and CCTV surveillance.
