Marine Fouling: Surface Texture Investigations May Provide Solution

Investigating surface texture could offer a non-toxic solution to marine fouling. Engineering and marine biology experts at The University of Nottingham Ningbo China are using innovative approaches to develop non-toxic solutions to the global problem of marine fouling, in the hope of reducing its environmental and economic costs. Marine industries have long sought chemical solutions to the problem of marine fouling but now researchers at The University of Nottingham Ningbo China (UNNC) are using innovative approaches to look at how surface texture can be used as a non-toxic solution.

Aubin Expands Services in Middle East

Offshore chemical engineering specialist Aubin has grown its presence in the Middle East, projecting nearly £3million worth of sales in the region this year as well as the introduction of local manufacturing. The Aberdeenshire-based company specializes in chemical solutions for the oil and gas industry, including cement and stimulation additives. With the majority of its global sales going to the Middle East, Aubin recently formed a partnership with an Abu Dhabi-based company to facilitate regional manufacturing. Aubin has recently completed a contract worth more than £400,000 for the provision of cement additives to a global operator in Iraq, and the successful conclusion has secured an additional contract to supply £1.25 million by the end of the year.

WSS Completed Integration with Nalfleet

Wilhelmsen Ships Service (WSS) has announced completion of the first phase of integration of the Nalfleet marine chemicals business. Nalfleet marine chemicals production has now been transferred from Nalco UK to the Wilhelmsen Chemicals manufacturing plant in Tonsberg, Norway and Nalfleet Customer Services and logistics operations have been integrated into the WSS network. As a result, Nalfleet customers can now take advantage of Wilhelmsen Ships Service’s extensive customer service operation. Over the coming months, WSS will carry out a review of the Nalfleet offering and look to consolidate product lines to further improve technical and logistics offerings and continue to strengthen its marine chemicals portfolio.
