Amogy Issued Feasibility Statement by Lloyd’s Register

Ammonia power solutions company Amogy informs it has been awarded a feasibility statement by classification society Lloyd’s Register (LR).Amogy has developed an ammonia-to-electrical power system that splits, or “cracks,” liquid ammonia into its base elements of hydrogen and nitrogen, which then funnels the hydrogen into a fuel cell, generating power at five times the energy density of lithium batteries.The feasibility statement from LR serves as the official approval of Amogy’s Technology Qualification Plan (TQP)…

US Plans Sharp Reduction in Offshore Oil and Gas Lease Sales

The Biden administration on Friday unveiled a plan to phase down oil and gas auctions in federal waters with the release of a long-awaited leasing schedule that includes a maximum of three sales in the Gulf of Mexico through 2029.The Interior Department's plan includes by far the lowest number of sales since the agency began producing Congressionally-mandated five-year oil and gas leasing schedules in 1980. Previous programs have ranged between 11 and 41 sales, according to Interior's U.S.

U.S. Union Workers to Build Ørsted's U.S. Offshore Wind Farms

North America’s Building Trades Unions (NABTU) and the offshore wind developer Ørsted on Thursday announced a Project Labor Agreement (PLA) to construct the company’s U.S. offshore wind farms with an American union workforce. IMO Rolls Out Global Maritime Technology Cooperation Centre Network

A global network of centres of excellence in marine technology was officially launched on Monday (4 December) at the headquarters of the International Maritime Organization (IMO). The Directors of five regional Maritime Technology Cooperation Centres (MTCCs) signed a Memorandum of Understanding to establish the global maritime technology centre network. The network of MTCCS - in Africa, Asia, the Caribbean, Latin America and the Pacific - is the mainstay of the GMN maritime technology project, run by IMO and funded by the European Union. The MTCCs are expected to provide leadership in promoting ship energy-efficiency technologies and operations, and the reduction of harmful emissions from ships.

Gates to Launch Mega Clean Tech Initiative

Microsoft co-founder Bill Gates will launch a multi-billion-dollar clean energy research and development initiative on Monday, the opening day of the U.N. climate change summit in Paris, GreenWire reported Friday. Gates and a group of developing and developed countries will agree to double their research and development budgets to boost clean energy deployment and work collaboratively, according to GreenWire, an energy and climate trade publication, citing government and business officials familiar with the agreement. Access to clean energy technology will play a key role in a global agreement to combat climate change. More than 190 countries will negotiate a new pact in Paris from Nov. 30 to Dec. 11. Contractors, B&W, Comment on US Government Shutdown Effect

"B&W is closely monitoring the government shutdown and the effect it could have on our business results and operations. We do not expect any delays or impacts to the Babcock & Wilcox Nuclear Operations Group for the foreseeable future. Babcock & Wilcox Technical Services Group (B&W TSG) continues to follow direction from the U.S. Department of Energy at project sites where B&W TSG has a presence. Many of the sites at which we have management and operating contracts or environmental management contracts have seen activities curtailed and are preparing for furloughs, which will be occurring over the next two weeks if the government shutdown is not ended. If the shutdown continues into November, it could begin to have a modest adverse impact on B&W TSG segment operating income.

AWS Ocean Energy Gets Major Investment from Alstom

AWS Ocean Energy Ltd, one of Scotland’s pioneering wave energy companies, announced that it had secured a major investment from Alstom, a global leader in power generation, power transmission and rail infrastructure.
