Northrop Grumman Corporation (NYSE:NOC) announced today that it has appointed retired U.S. Navy Capt. Robert W. "Brick" Nelson director and corporate lead executive for company business in San Diego. Nelson reports to Timothy C. Jones, vice president, aviation and intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance. "I am pleased to welcome Brick Nelson as our new lead executive in San Diego," said Jones. In his new role, Nelson will be Northrop Grumman's senior executive for the San Diego region, representing all business activities for the company.

Northrop Grumman (NYSE:NOC) won a follow-on and additional task order contracts totaling $69m from the U.S. Navy's Office of Naval Research (ONR) for the Navy's Integrated Topside (InTop) program. InTop is an innovative, scalable suite of electronic warfare, information operations and line-of-sight communications hardware and software for use on naval surface platforms. The new suite will reduce the number of multiple topside apertures that naval vessels currently use, increasing bandwidth and resolving electromagnetic interference and compatibility issues caused by the large number of antennas on modern ships. Master Class Seminars has announced the hosting of the Offshore Survey Training Seminar, October 21 through October 25, 2002. The workshop will be held in West Houston, at a venue to be announced shortly. The course is being offered in response to a high level of demand for advanced and hands-on offshore survey training, and will include instruction on the theoretical, operational and data processing aspects of surface and underwater positioning, seabed mapping; geodesy and coordinate systems. There will also be talks on the latest concepts and technologies associated with GPS, inertial systems, and the relevance of GIS for offshore applications.
