The last of 15 Arc7-classed tankers ordered for the liquefied natural gas (LNG) production plant Yamal LNG in Russia's Arctic north are undergoing sea trials around a South Korean shipyard, Refinitiv Eikon shipping data showed on Monday.The Georgiy Ushakov and Yakov Gakkel LNG tankers are both in water at the Daewoo Shipbuilding and Marine Engineering (DSME) Okpo shipyard in South Korea and indicating they are performing sea trials, the data showed. The Vladimir Voronin, meanwhile, finished its sea trials and has left the Sea of Japan, setting Yamal LNG as its destination.

A new Arc7 class ice-breaking liquefied natural gas (LNG) tanker, the Nikolay Urvantsev, is undergoing sea trials, Refinitiv data shows, becoming the 13th vessel to join a fleet servicing Novatek's Yamal plant.The vessel, previously known only as DMSE 2432, is owned by Mitsui OSK Lines (MOL) and was built at the Daewoo Shipbuilding and Marine Engineering (DSME) Okpo shipyard in South Korea. A new ice-breaking liquefied natural gas (LNG) tanker of the Arc7 class, the Nikolay Yevgenov, is due to arrive this week in Sabetta, the Arctic Russian port of Novatek's Yamal plant, Refinitiv shipping data showed on Monday.The tanker is off the west coast of Ireland at the moment, having left the Daewoo Shipbuilding and Marine Engineering (DSME) Okpo shipyard in South Korea at the end of April, Refinitiv Eikon shipping data showed.It is due to arrive on May 26, according to the data, five months ahead of the schedule set by its operator, Teekay LNG Partners.The Vladimir Voronin, also operated by Teekay, is set to begin sea trials imminently. The data shows it to be on the water in Okpo already.Yamal needs the ice-breaker tankers to ship LNG out of Arctic waters.

A new icebreaking liquefied natural gas (LNG) carrier jointly owned by Mitsui O.S.K. Lines, Ltd. (MOL) and China COSCO Shipping Corporation Limited (China COSCO Shipping) loaded its first cargo at the Yamal LNG plant in northern Russia. The 299m, 172,000m3 Vladimir Rusanov conducted it is first loading for Yamal LNG at Sabetta port on March 27 and 28. Vladimir Rusanov left South Korea’s Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering Co., Ltd. (DSME) Okpo shipyard after her naming ceremony in December 2017 and headed to the Arctic Ocean through the Suez Canal for three weeks of ice trials.

Rolls-Royce said it has won a contract to supply MT30 marine gas turbines to power the next three ships in the Republic of Korea Navy’s Daegu-class frigate program. The frigates are intended for a variety of missions including anti-submarine warfare, anti-air warfare, patrol, surveillance, search and rescue, protection of EEZ and transport. In all Eight Daegu-class frigates (also known as FFX Batch 2) are scheduled to be built, the first of which is being built by Daewoo Shipbuilding and Marine Engineering (DSME) and was launched at DSME's Okpo shipyard in June 2016.

ABB will supply the power and electric propulsion system to a new Floating Storage and Regasification Unit (FSRU) for BW Group, which will also be remotely connected to ABB’s Collaborative Operations Centers. The equipment onboard will provide data to the shore-side Centers allowing ABB and the vessel owner to take a proactive approach to maintenance throughout the lifetime of the vessel. “The modern power system must be both efficient and connected,” said Juha Koskela, Managing Director of ABB’s marine and ports business.

South Korean shipbuilder Daewoo Shipbuilding and Marine Engineering Co., Ltd. (DSME) and the Industrial Development and Renovation Organization of Iran (IDRO) have signed an outline agreement to cooperate on developing the shipbuilding Industry in Iran. Under the deal with the Industrial Development and Renovation Organisation of Iran, Daewoo Shipbuilding will work on constructing a shipyard and related facilities in Iran, according to Yonhap News Agency. The parties plan to establish a joint venture company (JVC) to develop an Iranian shipyard with cooperation from DSME Okpo Shipyard on the engineering and construction of the types of vessels needed by Iran.

(DSME) agreeing a deal with the BW Group to build two LNG carriers. The technical engine specification complies with IMO Tier II, with options to include remedies for Tier III compliance at a later stage. The 173,400 cu. m. vessels are scheduled for delivery in late 2017/early 2018 and will be built at DSME’s Okpo shipyard in Geoje, Korea. The deal represents the second LNG ME-GI contract for DSME after a previous order signed in 2012.

Clarkson Hellas notes that Oldendorff Carriers have declared their options for six 64,000 DWT Ultramax at Qingshan Shipyard and one 94,000 DWT self-unloader at Jiangsu New YZJ. Pricing was not disclosed, but delivery is reported to be from 4Q in 2016 for the Ultramax and due in 2Q 2015 for the self-unloader. From Japan, Namura have signed two 81,700 DWT Kamsarmax with the Taiwanese owner Wisdom Marine for delivery in 2016. In the larger sizes, Sincere Navigation have declared their option for one 250,000 DWT ore carrier, taking the series to two vessels. The vessel will be delivered in 2016.

South Shields based Solar Solve Marine received an order from Korea for four ship-sets of its SOLASAFE roller sunscreens. The screens are to be installed at the navigation bridge windows of four very large container carriers currently under construction at Daewoo’s DSME Okpo shipyard on Geoje Island. With a length of 366 mts, a beam of 48.8 mts and depth of 30 mts the vessels will all be 152,700 dwt., and whilst not the biggest in the world, they will still be classed as mega carriers with a maximum capacity of around 13,100 teu.

Naval design and engineering company BMT Defense Services Ltd. included a software package created by maritime software house NAPA during the design process for the new logistics and support vessel (LSV) ordered by the Norwegian Defense Logistics Organization (NDLO). Naval architects have applied NAPA for Design to the vessel's stability and hydrodynamics modeling to produce a compartmentation model that can provide hull form throughout the design process to production. The model will support the lifetime eco-efficiency of the vessel, either in combination with NAPA for Operations systems and the NAPA Loading Computer, or as a standalone system that provides vital information on the vessel when it cannot be observed.

Industries Co., Ltd. For many years now, contracts for ships and floating units to operate in an offshore environment have been much-prized value-added goals at Samsung. These include not only shuttle but drill ships, floating storage and offloading units (FSOs), with their derivative production types (FPSOs), crane ships, and various types of floating and fixed platforms. Some of the more interesting ships that have been created here have included a trio of deepwater drill ships for Reading & Bates capable of working in water depths down to 3000m, the 312,500 dwt FPSO Bonga for operating off Nigeria, and the Saibos FDS, a pipelayer/crane vessel with a jib capacity of 600tonnes.

Oman Shipping Company S.A.O.C. (OSC) took delivery of a Very Large Crude Carrier (VLCC) “BUKHA”, at Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering Co. Ltd (DSME), Okpo, South Korea. “BUKHA” is designed and constructed according to the latest international standards, and it has advanced ballast water treatment technology to comply with international conventions on the protection of the environment from the effects of transportation of ballast water and sediments around the world.

Daewoo Shipbuilding and Marine Engineering has begun constructing the world's largest container vessel after receiving the order from Denmark's AP Moller-Maersk, the shipbuilder has announced. When completed, the 18,000 TEU container ship will measure 400 m in length and 59 m in width, with a deck wide enough to accommodate four football fields. It is the first of 20 container ships DSME is building for the Danish company based on orders from February last year. The shipbuilder said it plans to hand it over in the second half of 2013. Denmark's Crown Prince Frederik and his wife Mary, who are in Korea visiting the 2012 Yeosu Expo that opened on Saturday, attended a ceremony marking the start of the vessel's construction on the same day at DSME's Okpo shipyard in South Gyeongsang Province.

DSME says it has won its first order for an LNG-FPSO from Pretroliam Nasional Berhad, Malaysia`s state-operated oil company. The design of this project is a joint effort between DSME and Technip, a France based offshore plant design company. The LNG-FPSO will be 300m long, 60m wide, and have the capacity to store up to a maximum 180,000㎥ LNG with an annual handling capacity of 1.2 million tons. It will be constructed in the Okpo shipyard and delivered in June of 2015. It will provide service to the Kanowit field which is located off the northwest coast of Sarawak state in Malaysia.
