The largest component of the 120-meter J-Lay tower for one of the world’s biggest crane vessels, Saipem 7000, has been delivered by tug Fairmount Expedition offshore Burgas, Bulgaria. The tower component was loaded on Saipem’s cargo barge S42.   Oceangoing tug Fairmount Expedition towed the barge from Ravenna, Italy, nonstop to Bulgaria with an average speed of 8 knots. Subsequently, the Fairmount Expedition assisted during the offloading of the J-Lay tower. The barge S42 is 125 meters long and 30 meters in width, loaded with the J-lay tower weighing 3,407 tons.

Tug Fairmount Expedition has towed jack-up rig Naga 3 from the PV Marine Shipyard in Vung Tau, Vietnam, to the RD-19X Block 15-2 oilfield offshore Vietnam. Last month the tug has towed the rig from Singapore to the shipyard, after which the Fairmount Expedition remained anchored off Vung Tau. The Naga 3 is a Gusto MSC CJ46-X100-D design jack-up rig, built in 2010 by Dubai Drydocks World and owned by UMW Petropipe/Singapore Drilling. The 70 meters long rig can drill up to 9,144 meters in depth.

Tug Fairmount Expedition has towed jack-up rig Naga 3 safely from Labuan, Malaysia, to the PV Marine Shipyard in Vung Tau, Vietnam. The Fairmount Expedition was mobilized from Singapore for this 575 miles voyage. During the voyage the Fairmount Expedition only made use of two of her four main engines. The Naga 3 is a Gusto MSC CJ46-X100-D design jack-up rig, built in 2010 by Dubai Drydocks World and owned by UMW Petropipe/Singapore Drilling. The 70 meters long rig can drill up to 9,144 meters in depth.

Fairmount Marine said it has safely delivered rig ENSCO 5002 in Singapore. The rig was towed from Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, via Cape Good Hope, by tug Fairmount Expedition. ENSCO 5002 is a 1975 built 70 meters long and 61 meters wide semisubmersible drilling rig. The rig can accommodate up to 110 persons and is capable to drill up to 10,668 meters. Tug Fairmount Expedition hooked-up with the rig offshore Rio de Janeiro mid-November 2013. The convoy arrived in Singapore this week after a 9,200 miles voyage by an average speed of 5-6 knots.

Fairmount Marine’s tugs Fairmount Glacier and Fairmount Expedition have assisted in the installation of FPSO OSX3 in the Tubarão Martelo oilfield offshore Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Both Fairmount tugs were part of a five unit strong fleet of tugs contracted to hook-up the OSX3 to her anchors. 'Fairmount Expedition' delivers offshore support vessel (OSV) 'Harvey Rover' safely in the port of Paramaribo, Suriname after the OSV had engine problems in the South Atlantic. Harvey Rover encountered engine problems while en route from South Africa to Trinidad. Super-tug Fairmount Expedition was in Trinidad when her assistance was required by the owner of Harvey Rover, US-based Harvey Gulf International. When facing engine problems the 2010 build, 3.134 DWT, 75 meters long OSV was en route towards Trinidad and about 330 miles North-East of Brazilian port Ponta de Madeira.

Super tugs Fairmount Sherpa and Fairmount Expedition have towed the drilling rig Noble Max Smith from the Gulf to Brazil. Both tugs hooked-up in Pascagoula Mississippi, USA. For this job the Fairmount Sherpa and the Fairmount Expedition were mobilized to the departure location from there previous projects. Fairmount Sherpa had just delivered the rig Atwood Condor in Trinidad after a speedy crossing of the Atlantic and the turbulent waters around the Cape of Good Hope and Fairmount Expedition was successfully involved in the salvage of the ill fated container vessel MSC Flaminia.

Fairmount Marine’s ocean going salvage tug Fairmount Expedition, accompanied by tugs Anglian Sovereign and Carlo Magno, have safely delivered container vessel MSC Flaminia in Wilhelmshaven, Germany, after a hair-raising adventure lasting seven weeks. abandoned by her crew at the middle of the Atlantic Ocean. disabled vessel to render assistance. severe risk of explosions. from UK’s J.P. carrying additional salvage experts. the fire. permission to enter a Western European port. Expedition and MSC Flaminia through the English Channel. headed for Wilhelmshaven, Germany.

The fire-damaged container ship is passing through the English Channel, then shortly to cross between French & Belgian territorial waters. The ship managers REEDEREI NSB report that the transfer is proceeding without any exceptional events. The picture shown together with this update was taken shortly before the commencement of the passage through the English Channel. It shows MSC FLAMINIA with the towing gear connecting it to tugboat FAIRMOUNT EXPEDITION. The vessel is expected in German home waters this weekend.

'MSC Flaminia' has left its holding position 20 miles south of Lands End and is now being towed towards German territorial waters.
 The tow has been handed over from tugboat Carlo Magno to Fairmount Expedition. The departure of the ship follows approval from the UK, France, Belgium and the Netherlands for the vessel to travel through their waters. The journey to German territorial waters is expected to take between four and five days.

Vessel has been towed closer to the UK coast, but adverse weather prevents boarding of safety experts. MSC FLAMINIA and its accompanying tug boats FAIRMOUNT EXPEDITION (Fairmount Marine) and ANGLIAN SOVEREIGN (L.P. Knight) have arrived on the southwestern coast of the UK. The planned safety inspection [regarding pernission to pass through the English Channel & other European waters en route towards Wilhelmshaven, Germany] will be conducted as soon as weather conditions make possible a secure transfer of the experts onboard the vessel.

The casualty is under tow towards British territorial waters & permission to enter, thence transit towards German port of Wilhelmshaven. MSC FLAMINIA and its accompanying tug boats FAIRMOUNT EXPEDITION (Fairmount Marine) and ANGLIAN SOVEREIGN (L.P. Knight) are bound for a position 40 nm south of the western-most point of the UK, Land's End. On arrival at that position a team of experts consisting of dangerous goods specialists, chemists and salvage experts will conduct a safety inspection onboard the vessel. Together with experts from the UK, France and the Netherlands its condition and its cargo will be reviewed to ensure a safe passage through the English Channel.

The tugboat ANGLIAN SOVEREIGN is constantly monitoring temperatures onboard the vessel via a laser thermometer and is ready to resume cooling if necessary. Due to thick fog the salvage team is currently unable to board MSC FLAMINIA. As soon as visibility improves, a salvage team will go onboard to check each container individually and extinguish any discovered fires. Only after this procedure will permission to make a port call be obtained. It is currently unsure which port the vessel will call at first. MSC FLAMINIA is still towed by FAIRMOUNT EXPEDITION, with ANGLIAN SOVEREIGN und CARLO MAGNO on standby. The group sails at a speed of 5kn towards Europe and on 25, July 2012 was situated 320 nautical miles off the coast of the UK.

The owners inform that  firefighting tugboat Fairmount Expedition owned by Fairmount Marine has begun to tow MSC Flaminia towards Europe. Simultaneously, firefighting tugboat Anglian Sovereign (L.P. Knight) continues to cool the fire. The tugboat Carlo Magno (Augustea S.A.) accompanies the group on standby. The container ship's own firefighting system is especially cooling the area in front of the superstructure. Due to the extinguishing water and damaged cargo, MSC Flaminia is listing by 10 degrees.

Fairmount Marine’s tug Fairmount Alpine has towed MV Elbcarrier safely into a Guatemalan port after the vessel was drifting off the South-East Mexican isle Cozumel. The container vessel Elbcarrier got into troubles after motor failure. Fairmount Alpine was mobilized from the port of Kingston, Jamaica. The tug arrived at the location of the Elbcarrier within 36 hours and was able to connect in short time. Fairmount Alpine towed the Elbcarrier to Santo Tomas de Castilla, Guatemala. The voyage of just 321 nautical miles took only two days, with an average speed of 6.4 knots. The Elbcarrier is a 139.6 meters long German owned container vessel flying the flag of Antigua & Barbuda and build in 2007.

Fairmount Marine’s tug Fairmount Expedition has delivered the semi- submersible drilling rig Scarabeo 6 safely in Rotterdam, the Netherlands, for her dry-dock period at shipyard Keppel-Verolme. The 27 year old Scarabeo 6, owned by Italian offshore company Saipem, was towed from offshore Abu Qir, Egypt, towards Rotterdam over a distance of 3,290 miles. The tow was executed by Fairmount Expedition together with tug Normand Neptun at an average speed of 5.7 knots. A bunker stop was made in Algaciras, Spain. For this job Fairmount Expedition was contracted by EDT Offshore Egypt.

A specialized team lead by Fairmount Marine has completed successfully the tow, mooring and positioning hook-up of the floating production storage and offloading unit (FPSO) Pazflor offshore Angola. Earlier Fairmount’s powerful tugs Fairmount Expedition, Fairmount Glacier and Fairmount Alpine have towed FPSO Pazflor from Korea to Angola. After arrival offshore Angola the 30 man team of Fairmount Marine connected the FPSO Pazflor to its moorings, while the three Fairmount tugs together with a fourth, chartered tug have kept the Pazflor in position.
