BMT Wins Isles of Scilly Steamship Design Deal

BMT won a contract with The Isles of Scilly Steamship Group (ISSG) for new vessel designs for the Isles of Scilly, replacing the iconic Scillonian III.The ISSG require a vessel design solution to run between the harbors of Penzance and St Mary’s, in addition to an onward freight supply chain from St Mary’s to the off islands of St Martins, Tresco, Bryher and St Agnes.“The designs will maximize passenger and crew comfort, will be capable of operating in the challenging conditions of the Atlantic ocean route…

Ingram Wins EPA 2015 SmartWay Excellence Award

Ingram Barge Company was honored today with a SmartWay Excellence Award from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency as a true industry leader in freight supply chain environmental performance and energy efficiency. “We’re so proud to be an industry leader in environmental stewardship, setting the industry standard of excellence,” said Chuck Arnold, Ingram’s VP of Business & Strategic Development. Ingram Barge Company is the first barge carrier in the history of the Partnership to receive this distinction, representing the best environmental performers of SmartWay’s nearly 3,000 Partners. The carrier Excellence Awardees are being honored at American Trucking Association’s Annual Management Conference & Exhibition in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania on October 19, 2015.

APL Voted Best Trans-Pacific Shipping Line

APL today won the Best Trans-Pacific Shipping Line accolade at the 28th Asian Freight & Supply Chain Awards (AFSCAs). This is the third time in four years that APL has emerged as the preferred liner in this category, following wins in 2011 and 2012. Determined by votes cast by readers of Cargonews Asia, APL clinched the award for its leading performance in schedule integrity, customer service support and its comprehensive port calls in the Trans-Pacific trade. “The container shipping business has become a much more competitive and demanding business than before,” said APL President Kenneth Glenn. “With APL coming up tops in the Trans-Pacific trade despite the challenging conditions there, this award is all the more satisfying to us.

Hamburg Süd is “Best Green Service Provider – Shipping Line”

At the 28th Annual Asian Freight & Supply Chain Awards (AFSCA) sponsored by “Cargonews Asia” Hamburg Süd received the award as “Best Green Service Provider – Shipping Line” for the third year in a row. This year, the award ceremony held in Shanghai on 17 June was attended by several hundred senior representatives of Asian and international companies in the shipping, transportation and logistics sectors. The award was accepted on behalf of the shipping group by Stefan Kirschner, Regional Director Region Asia-Pacific of Hamburg Süd. An expert panel selected five shipping companies as AFSCA finalists, including Hamburg Süd, and the winner was chosen by the readers of the Hong Kong-based transport and logistics newspaper “Cargonews Asia”.

Perils of Heavy Ship Containers Debated

Maritime experts are torn on how to curb the menace of overweight shipping containers, which cause severe accidents at sea and on the roads. Port of Long Beach Recognized for Green Efforts

The Port of Long Beach was recognized Tuesday, June 17, as the “Best Green Seaport” at the 28th annual Asian Freight & Supply Chain Awards hosted in Shanghai, China. Known for its nearly 10-year-old Green Port Policy, the Port of Long Beach has regularly reported reduced impacts on the community, wildlife and the environment. The port  has overseen dramatic improvement in air and water quality with an array of environmental initiatives that include the Clean Trucks, Green Flag Vessel Speed Reduction and Technology Advancement programs.

Maersk Line Wins Two Awards at ASFCA 2011

Maersk Line took home the “Best Global Shipping Line” and “Best Green Service Provider - Shipping Line” at the 25th annual Asian Freight & Supply Chain Awards, which was held in Singapore on 27th April 2011. Maersk Line won the “Best Global Shipping Line” award for the 18th consecutive year, which serves testimony to its continued status as the global leader in container shipping. It was also the second time that Maersk Line was awarded “Best Green Service Provider - Shipping Line”, recognition of its leadership on environmental performance.

Four Honors for NOL at Asian Freight Awards

SINGAPORE, 27 APRIL 2011 – NOL Group won accolades for excellence in Shipping and Logistics and CEO Ron Widdows received the Lifetime Achievement Award at the 25th Asian Freight & Supply Chain Awards here tonight. Both of NOL’s principal businesses were honored at one of the longest-running awards tributes in the Asian transportation sector. Container carrier APL was named Best Shipping Line in the Transpacific and Asia-Europe trades. APL Logistics won in the category of Best Logistics Service Provider – Sea Freight.

Rickmers-Linie Wins Best Shipping Line Again

For the second time in a row, Rickmers-Linie, the breakbulk, heavylift and project cargo specialist headquartered in Hamburg, won the category Best Shipping Line - Project Cargo in the annual Asian Freight & Supply Chain Awards (AFSCA). In a gala dinner held on 10 June 2010 at the Renaissance Shanghai Pudong Hotel, Dirk Wittkowski, Senior Representative of Rickmers-Linie in China, accepted the award from Caesar Yiu, Global Director Leasing at Thermo King in front of an audience of some 400 guests from the shipping, transport and logistics industry.
