WMU, DNV GL Maritime Academy Partner on New Program

The World Maritime University (WMU) and the DNV GL Maritime Academy have launched a new Postgraduate Diploma in Maritime Safety and Security (MSS) to help people involved in shipping operations, as well as the associated regulatory framework, develop the vital understanding of all of the aspects of safety and security required in today’s complex maritime industry. “WMU is pleased to offer this invaluable new programme in Maritime Safety and Security with our partners at DNV GL Maritime Academy. The MSS programme directly supports the University’s mission that includes promoting safe, secure and efficient shipping on clean oceans," said Dr. Cleopatra Doumbia-Henry, President of WMU.

DNV GL on Maritime Cyber Security

What are the best options for securing remote connections on ship and offshore systems? Which operational technology on board is most vulnerable to cyber-attacks? DNV GL has published a Recommended Practice (RP) on “Cyber Security Resilience Management” to help the industry address potential cyber hazards. Offen Group Deploys DNV GL Energy Efficiency Training

The three shipping companies of the Offen Group, CPO Container, CPO Tanker and CPO Bulker, have decided to implement DNV GL’s e-learning course “Energy Efficiency on Board” across their entire fleet. The E-learning tool, developed by DNV GL’s Maritime Academy, enables users to identify potential savings in a simple way and to implement them in ship operation. "As a large modern shipping company, we are always interested in innovative concepts and are constantly working to further extend our high quality standards in all areas," says Dietmar Thiem, Technical Director at CPO Container. The fleet of the Offen Group currently comprises 67 container ships, 8 bulk carriers and 26 tankers.

Spanish Cluster Recognizes DNV GL’s Maritime Academy

DNV GL’s Maritime Academy has been recognized for its training program by the Spanish Maritime Cluster. DNV GL received the “Impulso a la Formación” award, in recognition of the Maritime Academy’s efforts in the Maritime Training Sector in Spain. The award is under the patronage of King Felipe VI and honours initiatives that improve training programs and promote the development of new opportunities for professionals in the Spanish maritime sector. It also rewards projects that enable professionals to more easily move careers to a new maritime subsector.

New Postgraduate Diploma for Maritime Executives Launched

DNV GL Maritime Academy informs it has joined with the World Maritime University (WMU), founded by the International Maritime Organization (IMO), to offer a new Postgraduate Diploma for maritime managers. DNV GL consier that managers in today’s extremely competitive maritime industry need to cope with the current technical, regulatory and commercial developments.
