ION Wins 2D Multi-Client Gig Offshore West Africa

ION Geophysical Corporation, a technology focused company that provides geophysical technology, services and solutions to the global oil and gas industry, announced a new 2D multi-client program offshore West Africa.The industry-supported NamibeSPAN program covers the under-explored Namibe basin offshore southern Angola. The dataset integrates ION BasinSPAN programs in the area, forming a contiguous regional exploration framework in excess of 65,000 km along the West African coast. The program is the conjugate tie with offshore Brazil. The extension of the program into the Namibe basin provides valuable insight along both margins and is a framework to identify known discoveries as potential exploration analogues.

ION Bags Multi-Client Job in C. America

ION Geophysical Corporation has announced a new 2D multi-client reimaging program off the Pacific coast of Central America.According to the provider of acquisition equipment, software, planning and seismic processing services, and seismic data libraries to the global oil & gas industry, the Maya Reprocessing program covers unexplored open acreage that has not had E&P activity in 40 years. Previous exploration wells along the margin suggest the presence of an active petroleum system in the Pacific forearc basins. E&P companies can use these data to evaluate the prospective areas identified from the reimaged data. The program covers ~9,000 km of data that extend from the Tehuantepec Basin of Southern Mexico to the Sandino Basin of Western Nicaragua and creates a calibrated data set.

Polarcus Innovation in Seismic Vessel Design

Polarcus Limited received its eighth 3D seismic vessel on 21 June 2012 when Polarcus Adira was delivered at Ulstein Verft in Norway. The vessel is the second of two 12-14 streamer Arctic 3D seismic vessels built at the yard, and is the eighth vessel in the Polarcus fleet of the Ulstein SX134 design. Jury DeIivers Verdict on ION Geophysical Survey Patent Lawsuit

ION Geophysical Corporation announce verdict on marine survey streamer control system, vow to overturn it. ION Geophysical Corporation announce the jury returned a verdict against Ion in a patent infringement lawsuit filed against them by WesternGeco L.L.C. in the United States District Court for the Southern District of Texas. The lawsuit alleged that ION's DigiFIN™ lateral streamer control system infringed several method and apparatus claims contained in four WesternGeco U.S. patents regarding control systems for marine seismic streamer steering devices. The jury found that ION willfully infringed the claims contained in WesternGeco's patents and awarded WesternGeco the sum of $105.9 million in damages, consisting of $12.5 million in reasonable royalty and $93.4 million in lost profits.

GX Technology Agreement With Polarcus

ION Geophysical Corporation (NYSE:IO) announced that its seismic imaging subsidiary, GX Technology (GXT), has signed an agreement with The Polarcus Group of Companies (Polarcus) for the provision of seismic data processing services. This agreement includes onboard quality control (QC), onboard processing, and land-based data processing (DP) services. ION – Polarcus Contract

ION Geophysical Corporation (NYSE:IO) announced that its Marine Imaging Systems group was awarded a fleet-wide contract by The Polarcus Group of Companies (Polarcus), a new entrant in the marine seismic market, to equip all six of its new vessels with four streamer positioning and control technologies from ION's Intelligent Acquisition(TM) [IA] portfolio. This is the largest-ever commitment to ION's Intelligent Acquisition Marine Seismic Portfolio.
