DP World, Namibia's Nara Namib Sign MoU

Dubai based logistics giant DP World has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to develop a free economic zone for industry and logistics in Namibia.The port operator said the agreement with Namibia’s Nara Namib Free Economic Industrial Zone will support the growth of Namibia as a regional hub for southern Africa.The development will help Namibia grow as a center for industrial operations and logistics, creating opportunities and jobs across multiple sectors including agriculture, fishing, automotive and mining.The facility at Walvis Bay will provide businesses with development-ready land for industrial and logistics operations…

DP World Becomes a Full Logistics Operator in Peru

DP World, a Dubai-based global port operator, announced that it has expanded its business in Peru into a fully-integrated maritime and logistics operation.It has completed the development of the first phase of the deepwater port of Posorja in Ecuador for around $538 million. The whole project is estimated to cost around $1.2 billion.The development of the port by DP World will make Ecuador a trade and logistics hub for South America’s west coast. Trelleborg’s marine and infrastructure operation has relocated its headquarters and Dubai marine fender sales operation to Jafza One, a new, premium commercial complex in the heart of Jebel Ali Free Zone, Dubai in the UAE.The move to a larger office space follows the formation in quarter one 2019 of Trelleborg’s marine and infrastructure operation, formerly Trelleborg Marine Systems. DP World UAE Wins Sustainability Award

DP World, China Signs Agreement to Boost International Trade

DP World, Tata Group Mull Cooperation Opportunities

Suez Canal Authority, DP World Present Sokhna World Zone

Sultan Ahmed Bin Sulayem, Group Chairman and CEO, DP World and Admiral Mohab Mamish, Chairman of the Suez Canal Authority and Chairman of the Suez Canal Economic Zone (SCZone), presented details of the recent agreement to develop an integrated industrial and residential zone at Sokhna in Egypt to investors and businesses in Dubai. DP World at China’s Belt & Road Summit

Global trade enabler DP World Group Chairman and CEO Sultan Ahmed Bin Sulayem spoke at China’s Belt and Road Summit in Hong Kong this week highlighting the need for better international cross-sector connectivity in order to realise the significant trade potential. Speaking on a panel entitled ‘Enhancing cross-sector connectivity along the Belt and Road’ he stressed the impact on global trade that economic cooperation can bring, with more than 60 countries involved in the One Belt One Road (OBOR) initiative. The OBOR includes 30% of the world’s countries home to 70% of its population, 55% of global GNP and 75% of total energy reserves.

DP World's Volume Up 8.9%

DP World Limited handled 60 million TEU (twenty-foot equivalent units) across its global portfolio of container terminals during 2014, with gross container volumes growing by 8.9% on reported basis and 8.0% on a like-for-like1 basis. New volume at London Gateway (UK) and Embraport (Brazil) contributed to the increase in reported volumes. Growth in 2014 was largely driven by the Asia Pacific and India Subcontinent region, Europe and UAE terminals. The UAE delivered an impressive performance handling 15.2 million TEU, representing growth of 11.8% for the year. Europe showed a solid return to volume growth in 2014. At a consolidated level, our terminals handled 28.3 million TEU during 2014, a 9.5% improvement in like-for-like3 performance.

GE Oil & Gas New Facility in Jebel Ali Free Zone

GE Oil & Gas today celebrated the ground-breaking of a new facility that will further expand its presence in the UAE in Jebel Ali Free Zone (Jafza). Scheduled to open in 2015, the new facility spreads over an area of 22,700 sqm and can accommodate over 300 employees. A milestone in the expansion of GE Oil & Gas in the country and the region, the new facility will offer services by GE Oil & Gas’ various business units, thus strengthening customer service standards. Housed in a customized state-of-the-art facility developed by Jafza, the new GE Oil & Gas Manufacturing & Technology Center will offer tailored training programs, and also feature a dedicated repair center that will help improve the speed of service delivered by being closer to the customers.

DPW Looks Ahead to Expansion Drive

According to reports, DP World, on target to achieve 40 percent growth in four years, will spend up to $3b to boost container traffic at the 52 port terminals it currently operates around the globe. Announcing the formal launch of Dubai World — the holding group comprising a collection of companies, including P&F World, the parent company of DP World — Sulayem said the diversified entity, which has seen the size and spread of business growing over the past couple of years, is geared to tap further huge potential for growth. Sulayem said DP World and its adviser Deutsche Bank were evaluating various offers for the six US terminals it acquired as part of the $6.8 billion take-over of Peninsular & Oriental Steam Navigation Company in February.
