LR to Oversee Testing of Coldharbour’s BWTS

U.K.-based manufacturer of ballast water treatment systems based on unique inert gas technology Coldharbour Marine said it has signed a contract with Lloyd’s Register (LR) to oversee the complete range of tests required by the U.S. Coast Guard (USCG) in its type approval process. LR has Independent Laboratory Approval from the USCG and will work closely in the type approval tests with Marine Eco Analytics (MEA), a test laboratory in the Netherlands. Work Boats Exchange: Stage Set for Top Owners, Suppliers

Commercial fleet owners and marine suppliers are preparing for the industry’s first Work Boats Exchange, a hosted buyer event to be held April 9-12 at the Ritz-Carlton Fort Lauderdale. The first-of-its-kind event is not a traditional trade show, but rather a high-level, working business meeting, matching commercial fleet owners with senior-level suppliers, who are seeking to help them operate their businesses more efficiently, according to Robert Ingraham, Chief Executive Officer of Global Exchange Events, organizers of the event. The Exchange will enable fleet owners to sit down across the table in pre-arranged meetings with leading marine suppliers for 20 minutes at a time.

Jamian Joins MTLA

Maritime Transport & Logistics Advisors (MTLA) announced the addition of John Jamian, former Acting Maritime Administrator for the U.S. Department of Transportation’s Maritime Administration, to its select group of Affiliate Members. Currently serving as president of the Seaway Great Lakes Trade Association, Mr. Jamian is a partner in Jamian Fahmy, LLC, based in Washington, D.C. and Michigan, and has extensive experience in international transportation, trade development, and the maritime industry. Most recently, Mr. Jamian served in the Bush Administration as the Acting Maritime Administrator and Deputy Administrator for the U.S. Department of Transportation’s Maritime Administration.
