MBARI Works at Unlocking Ocean Biology

Gasum Acquires Skangas

Energy company Gasum has increased its shareholding in Norwegian liquefied natural gas (LNG) provider Skangas to 100%. The acquisition strengthens a key element of Gasum's strategy and will further enhance the development of the Nordic gas market and LNG distribution network.According to a press release from  the Nordic energy company the increase in shareholding consolidates Gasum's position as the leading Nordic LNG provider and the gas market forerunner.Nordic energy company Gasum has purchased the remaining shareholding in the Norwegian liquefied natural gas (LNG) provider Skangas from the Lyse Group. Skangas Aquires Risavika LNG

Skangas, a unit of Gasum, signed a deal with Lyse Group to acquire the Risavika liquefied natural gas (LNG)production facility in Norway. The acquisition of the Risavika production plant will strengthen Skangas’s presence in the downstream of the LNG value chain and secure Skangas’s commercial position in the Norwegian market and North Sea. The Risavika production plant has an annual production capacity of 300,000 tonnes of liquefied natural gas (LNG), and the volume of its tank is 30,000 cbm. The acquisition also includes the LNG marine bunkering facility. “Under the tolling agreement signed in 2014, we have bought the full annual capacity of the Risavika LNG plant. The acquisition of the plant puts the final pieces in place in the overall acquisition of Skangas.

Gasum Boosts LNG Network with Skangass Deal

Reuters - Finnish gas company Gasum is to acquire 51 percent of Norwegian Skangass's distribution operations from Lyse Corporation as it seeks to improve the efficiency of its liquefied natural gas (LNG) network. Gasum said on Monday that the deal, which will make it the largest Nordic operator in the LNG market, is also intended to ensure that it benefits from tighter European Union emissions regulations. Various new regulations on sulphur emissions in the shipping sector will come into place for much of the North and Baltic Sea as well as the United States and Canada in 2015, which has driven interest in alternative fuels to diesel.

GE’s Wind Demo Projects with Statoil & Lyse

GE announced plans to install up to five offshore demonstration wind turbines through two separate partnerships. Both initiatives will feature the largest wind turbine in GE's fleet, a 4.0-megawatt machine that includes a 110 meter rotor. GE's 4.0-110 incorporates advanced drive train and control technologies and GE's innovative technology that eliminates the need for gearboxes. GE has signed a cooperation agreement with Norwegian energy companies Statoil and Lyse to jointly carry out technical and environmental feasibility studies for building an offshore wind demonstration project in Rogaland County, off the southwest coast of Norway. The agreement includes the installation of up to four 4.0-megawatt offshore, direct drive wind turbines.
