KVH Debuts KVH ONE Hybrid Network and TracNet Terminals

KVH Industries, Inc. introduces the KVH ONE hybrid network and TracNet terminals for fast, reliable connectivity at sea and at the dock. The TracNet H30, H60, and H90 terminals feature satellite, cellular, and Wi-Fi technology under one dome, with intelligent, automatic switching based on availability, cost, and quality of data connection to continually deliver the best performance. The KVH ONE network includes 276 million sq. km (106+ million sq. miles) of satellite coverage using KVH’s global, layered HTS network, powered by Intelsat.

Kongsberg Wins Full-Scope Expedition Cruise Vessel Tender

Socarenam Delivers Mistral to France

GTT LNG Tank Ordered for Hapag-Lloyd Retrofit

French LNG containment specialist GTT has been notified by the Chinese shipyard Hudong-Zhonghua Shipbuilding for the design of the LNG Fuel tank as part of the retrofit of Hapag Lloyd MV Sajir container ship.Sajir is an ultra large container vessel with a capacity of 15,000 TEU, being built on behalf of the ship-owner Hapag-Lloyd.The retrofit project of the vessel has been carried out with the Hamburg based ship designer Technolog, the maritime solution provider MAN Energy Solution and its subsidiary MAN Cryo.The design of the project is based on the use of an exoskeleton-type structure which obtained a GASA (General Approval for Ship Application) by DNV-GL in 2017.

Saab's Maritime Solution Protecting Great Barrier Reef

As one of the wonders of the natural world, many consider the Great Barrier Reef one of the Earth’s most beautiful places. The marine environment in the area is extremely sensitive and with around 4000 commercial vessels passing every year, it is important for the vessel services operators working onshore to keep track of the traffic at all times. That’s where Saab comes in. Comprising nearly 3000 individual reefs and almost 100 islands, the Great Barrier Reef is the world’s largest coral reef system. Located off the coast of Queensland, Australia it can be seen from space and is the world’s biggest single structure made by living organisms. It also requires protection. To help, Saab will contribute through a Vessel Traffic Management Information System, or VTMIS for short.

'K' Line Fleet to Install Integrated Maritime Solutions

Kawasaki Kisen Kaisha ('K' Line) has decided to install “Optimum Weather Routing System” developed by Kawasaki Heavy Industries (KHI) to operated/managed vessels in our fleet. This system provides the minimum fuel consumption route in consideration of the safety navigation, hence we are planning to install the system in about 120 vessels by 2021, as part of the system which is the KAWASAKI Integrated Maritime Solution “K-IMS”  that we developed in collaboration with KHI group. The ship ICT system which uses ship-shore intercommunication system and has functions of operation management of ships, condition monitoring of engine plant, and ship performance analysis from the office.

Videotel, Safebridge JV for Onboard ECDIS Certification

Videotel, a provider of e-Learning maritime training solutions and a company of KVH Industries, has joined forces with online maritime training business Safebridge GmbH, which specializes in ECDIS training, to provide shipping companies with the unique ability to certify their seafarers on ECDIS type-specific training while serving onboard. Videotel Secures NMA Approval

Videotel, the leading international provider of e-Learning maritime training solutions and a company of KVH Industries, Inc., has received the approval of the Norwegian Maritime Authority (NMA) for its security training courses. Videotel’s “Maritime Security Awareness,” “Designated Security Duties,” and “Shipboard Security Officer” training courses have been approved in their entirety by the NMA for meeting the Standards of Training, Certification and Watchkeeping (STCW) codes, and seafarers completing these courses will receive the necessary qualifications and certificates for shipboard duty. Hughes Provides Broadband to Hercules Offshore Fleet

Hercules Offshore has invested in a satellite communications system from Hughes Network Systems, LLC. Hughes and Environmental Safety Systems International Corporation (ESSI) are equipping the entire Hercules Offshore fleet of Class 120 to Class 230 liftboats in the U.S. Gulf of Mexico, with Hughes satellite-based broadband maritime services. These liftboats, commonly referred to as the workhorse of the offshore industry, are reliable, versatile, and self-contained. They provide a cost-effective and efficient alternative to traditional pipelay/derrick vessels. With their large, open deck areas, they are self-propelling and self-elevating. The fleet provides a work platform for a wide range of services from coiled tubing and wireline operations to well intervention.
