Global Supply Pressures May Be Nearing Peak

The historically high pressures on global supply chain networks that have contributed to shortages of key goods and materials and a surge in inflation may have peaked, according to a new index released by the New York Federal Reserve on Tuesday.The Global Supply Chain Pressure Index (GSCPI) surged early in the pandemic when China imposed lockdown measures. Fratelli Neri Names Three New Tugs

On May 15, Fratelli Neri held a naming ceremony for three Damen RSD Tugs 2513 in Livorno, Italy. Two of the vessels, named Romito and Calafuria were built at Damen Shipyards Galati and were delivered to Fratelli Neri at the end of 2019. Both of these tugs offer 70 tonnes bollard pull in the configuration tractor tug.The latest addition to the company’s fleet has been named Gabriella Neri, for the wife of Chairman Piero Neri. Damen built the vessel at Damen Song Cam Shipyard and delivered her in Livorno in January this year.

Tug Malta Takes Delivery of New Tug from Damen

Maltese tug operator Tug Malta has taken delivery of Senglea, a new Damen RSD Tug 2513 to be used for maneuvering container vessels in and out of the harbor.Handed over on January 15, the newbuild joins a fleet that already has a number of Damen ASD tugs, but is the first RSD tug to operate in the region.Tug Malta, owned by Rimorchiatori Mediterranei Spa, ordered the vessel in November 2019. Built at Damen’s Song Cam Shipyard in Vietnam, she has a bollard pull of 80 tonnes. The design features Damen’s Twin Fin skeg to enhance directional stability and provide higher indirect towing force.

Damen Delivers Harbor Tug to Con.Tug in Italy

Damen Shipyards Group has delivered a newly built harbor tug to Con.Tug in Italy. The vessel, named Gioia Star, will operate in Gioia Tauro, one of the most important transhipment ports in the Mediterranean.Con.Tug – a joint venture between Scafi and TIL – ordered the new tug from Damen in January. Tug Malta’s New Tug Named

St. On Friday, February 9, Tug Malta’s Damen ASD 2913 was named St. Angelo at a ceremony attended by the Prime Minister of Malta, Joseph Muscat, and the island nation’s Minister of Transport, Ian Borg. Acting as sponsor of the vessel was Mrs. Michelle Muscat, the wife of the Prime Minister. Tug Malta is part of the Rimorchiatori Riuniti Group. The ceremony was also attended by Tug Malta Chairman John E. Sullivan and CEO Mario Mizzi, Rimorchiatori Riuniti Group Chiefs Giovanni Delle Piane and Gregorio Gavarone and Damen Sales Manager Antonio Marte.

Damen CEO Berkvens Receives CEMT Award

The Council of the Confederation of European Maritime Technology Societies presented Damen CEO René Berkvens with the CEMT Award on Thursday, August 24, at Damen Shipyards Gorinchem. The Council bestows the award annually in recognition of the substantial contribution made to the success of the European maritime industry by an individual, company or organization. The contribution can be either technological, political or economic. Berkvens received the award in recognition of his leadership of Damen and the contribution this has made toward the successes of the European maritime sector.

Technip Win Offshore Angola BP Contract

Technip wins important 5-year contract for engineering & modification services on FPSO units offshore Angola, SW Africa. The BP Angola contract is for work concerning the existing Greater Plutonio and Plutao, Saturno, Venus and Marte (PSVM) floating production storage and offloading (FPSO) units, located in Blocks 18 and 31 offshore Angola. This contract follows the successful completion of a previous five-year contract for engineering services for the Greater Plutonio FPSO. This new award covers two FPSOs and involves not only engineering, but also procurement and management of offshore and onshore construction activities. Technip’s operating center in Luanda, Angola will carry out the contract, which is scheduled for completion at the end of 2017.

FPSO Installation deal to Aker Solutions

MODEC Offshore Production Systems (Singapore) Pte Ltd. awarded Aker Solutions' wholly-owned subsidiary Aker Marine Contractors a mooring installation contract for hook-up of the Bourgogne FPSO offshore Angola. Contract value is approximately $30m. MODEC will supply the PSVM FPSO to BP for the oil company's PSVM (Plutão, Saturno, Vênus and Marte) development in Block 31 offshore Angola. The FPSO will be installed in approximately 2 000 meters water depth and have production capacity of 157,000 barrels per day. "This contract represents another significant step forward in our relationship with MODEC," says Erik Wiik, President - Subsea North America, Aker Solutions.

Rickmers Group Celebrates Vessel Naming

The Rickmers Group celebrated the naming of the latest addition to its fleet, the 4250-TEU container vessel Marte Rickmers. Marte von Have, wife of lawyer Harro von Have from Hamburg, acted as the sponsor of the vessel. The naming ceremony took place in the presence of more than 100 guests, business partners of the Rickmers Group, customers of Rickmers-Linie and representatives from the shipyard. Under the terms of an eight-year time charter agreement with the French operator CMA CGM, the ship will operate under the name CMA CGM Azure. It will be employed initially in the French company’s liner service between the Far East and the Mediterranean. Marte Rickmers is the third vessel out of a series of 21 ordered from Dalian by Rickmers Group. With a length of 802 ft.
