Shell's 34,000t North Sea-bound Penguins FPSO Leaves Chinese Shipyard

Shell's Penguins FPSO has set sail from China loaded aboard Boskalis' White Marlin semi-submersible heavy transportation vessel.In a social media post on Thursday, Boskalis said: "Boskalis’ semi-submersible transport vessel White Marlin departed from Qingdao, China with an impressive cargo; the 34,000-ton cylinder-shaped Shell Penguins FPSO. Construction of Shell's Penguins FPSO Completed in China

China Starts Production at 100,000 DWT Deepwater Semi-sub FPSO

China Classification Society (CCS) is reporting the successful surveying of the world’s first 100,000 DWT deep-water semi-submersible floating production storage and offloading installation (FPSO).Dubbed Shen Hai Yi Hao, the platform is formally commencing production after being installed at the Lingshui (LS) 17-2 gas field in the South China Sea following an announcement by Wang Dongjin, the chairman of its operator China National Offshore Oil Corporation (CNOOC) which is China's largest producer of offshore crude oil and natural gas.

Unique Group Wins COOEC Contract

Unique Group has been awarded a multi-million-dollar contract by China Offshore Oil Engineering Co., Ltd (COOEC).The contract was signed at the 2nd CNOOC Global Procurement signing ceremony held on November 7th, as a part of CIIE 2019 in Shanghai, China.Under this contract, Unique Group will design, manufacture and deliver a classed saturation diving system to be integrated on COOEC’s vessel, including technical support during and post installation. All equipment will comply with DNV and International Marine Contractors Association (IMCA) guidelines.

Dutch firm Boskalis transported the 90,000-ton FPSO P-67 from Qingdao, China to Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, aboard the semi-submersible heavy transport vessel BOKA Vanguard.FPSO P-67 was built by China’s Offshore Oil Engineering Company (COOEC), and delivered to Brazil's Petrobras in 2018.The FPSO recently began producing in the deepwater Lula Norte area, in the pre-salt of Santos Basin offshore Brazil.

Kwispaa LNG Signs FEED Contract of Two At-Shore LNG Hulls

Aker Bets on Software Engineers for Its Oil Business

When the owners of Norwegian oil firm Aker BP decided to digitise its assets and operations, they searched high and low for the right software company. Saipem Teams Up with Italy Railways in Russia Project Bid

Saipem has teamed up with Italy's state railways to bid for work on a Russian high-speed train project as the Italian oil engineering and contracting firm seeks new business to offset an ongoing slump in the energy industry. Oil service groups like Saipem have been hit by a sharp fall in oil prices since mid-2014 that has led energy majors to cut billions of dollars in costs and delay investments. Oil and gas exploration and development firms spent just 400 billion euros ($436 billion) on projects last year compared to 700 billion euros in 2014, according to Saipem CEO Stefano Cao. "We've signed a memo of understanding with Ferrovie dello Stato (Italy railways) to make a joint bid for a part of the Moscow-Kazan project," Cao told shareholders at a meeting on Friday.

China Equipments to Yamal LNG

The first shipment of a ‘core kit’ for Russia’s Yamal LNG project has set sail for northern Russia from the Chinese port of Qingdao. China's first batch of two air cooled condensing modules of LNG project are the biggest and heaviest kits being used for the project. They are set to arrive at the construction site in late June, says China Central Television. Yamal is a liquefied natural gas project located deep in the Russian Arctic. It is expected to start operating next year. 85 percent of the liquefied natural gas will be transported to the Asia Pacific market. It is China's first export of LNG core modules, indicating that China has entered into the international high-end oil and gas equipment market.

Mitsubishi-led Group Exiting Stake in Brazil Shipyard

A group of Japanese shipbuilders led by Mitsubishi Heavy Industries Ltd (MHI) plans to exit its 30 percent stake in Brazilian shipbuilder Ecovix and declare the investment as a loss, Valor Economico newspaper reported on Tuesday. The group led by MHI plans to sell its stake in Ecovix, which it bought in 2013 for about $300 million, to Jackson Empreendimentos for a "symbolic amount," Valor reported. Jackson Empreendimentos owns the remaining 70 percent of Ecovix, the controller of Estaleiro Rio Grande (ERG) shipyard in the Brazilian city of Rio Grande. In addition to MHI, the Japanese group includes Mitsubishi Co and the Imabari, Namura and Oshima Shipbuilding companies, the newspaper reported. MHI's Brazilian unit did not answer calls requesting comment.

Massive Explosions at Port of Tianjin Kill 44

A series of huge explosions shook  the warehouse at Tianjin Port International Logistics Center in the northern Chinese city of Tianjin late Wednesday, killing at least 44 people and injuring hundreds more, according to officials and state media. The People's Daily newspaper said at least 520 people were injured, more than 60 of them seriously. As of Thursday morning, an unknown number of people remained unaccounted for in the wreckage. The initial explosion erupted at a warehouse for a logistics company in an industrial area of the port city, according to Tianjin police. The company was identified as Tianjin Dongjiang Port Rui Hai International Logistics Co. Ltd. The second explosion was so powerful that I felt the entire 16-floor-building was shaking, says an eye witness.

SPMTs Transport Heavy LNG Load in China

It was the heaviest load ever transported in China on SPMTs: the first of a total of eight liquid natural gas (LNG) production modules was moved by SCHEUERLE SPMTs from Zhejiang Lida, COSCO and Sinotrans in COOEC Qingdao yard, China, to the oceangoing barge Finesse on 300 SPMT axle lines, under the operational direction of Mammoet. The heavy shipment will reach the Darwin Island in Australia. SCHEUERLE  noted LNG is a business of the future and it is estimated that production will increase by more than 200 percent by 2020.

Hallin Marine Completes Unique FPSO Contract

Hallin Marine, a Superior Energy Services company, says it has completed a unique project for COOEC Subsea Technology, a wholly-own subsidiary of COOEC (China Offshore Oil Engineering Company) which  involved the replacement of 9 mooring lines beneath the floating production storage and offloading (FPSO) vessel HYSY111, while maintaining live operations. The oil and gas industry has previously witnessed the replacement of a single damaged mooring line replacement under such conditions; however this is the first time all FPSO mooring lines have been replaced as one continuous activity. The entire task was completed ahead of schedule without shutting down production on the facility, and with zero lost-time injury.

Norway's Kvaerner and China's COOEC form Joint Venture

China Offshore Oil Engineering Company (COOEC) and Norway's Kvaerner are setting up a joint venture in China to conduct oil engineering projects worldwide in the second international cooperation deal for the Chinese firm in six months. In December last year COOEC set up a joint venture with French oil services group Technip to provide engineering and equipment for deepwater oilfields off China. "Kvaerner will bring international management, tools and working methods while COOEC is providing a team of experienced offshore engineers," Zhou Xuezhong, president and CEO of COOEC, said in a statement. In April the firms signed a 10-year strategic cooperation agreement to develop business projects together in the oil sector. The new company will be based in Qingdao, Shandong province.

Atkins Gain Maersk Oil Engineering Contract

Design, engineering and project management consultancy Atkins, says it has been awarded an engineering support contract covering three of Maersk Oil’s UK assets in the North Sea. Sewage Plant Installed on Chinese Gas Platform

Mark Mellinger, President of Headhunter, Inc., announced that the company’s Tidal Wave HMX Model 8202 sewage treatment plant was completed and exported to China for installation on the Panyu PY34-1 CEP, a $205 million gas production platform under construction in Qingdao by China Offshore Oil Engineering Company (COOEC). The Tidal Wave HMX systems are USCG-certified to IMO MEPC 159(55) standards. They can process up to 50,000 gallons of effluent per day and use flocculants, chemical oxidation, hydro-maceration and patented crossflow separation techniques to destroy influent biomass.

COOEC Signs Contract with SpecTec

China Offshore Oil Engineering Corporation (COOEC) signed a contract with SpecTec Asia Pacific East Ltd, SpecTec Group Hong Kong subsidiary. The contract is relevant to the supply of AMOS Maintenance and Procurement modules for six Offshore Support Vessels, two pipelay vessels and one crane barge. AMOS M&P will integrate management of maintenance work and costs, stock control and purchasing onboard the vessel. One of the vessels included in the contract is COOEC first flagship deep-water pipe-laying vessel, the Haiyangshiyou 201. The vessel will be used on CNOOC’s deep-water pipelay service duties at Husky’s Liwan 13-1 Gas Field in the South China Sea.

Kvaerner, COOEC Complete Demo Platform Module

Kvaerner and COOEC have jointly invested in engineering and fabricating of a demonstration module to document the partners' combined capabilities for delivering new offshore oil and gas platforms. After the start of the engineering and procurement in January 2011, the fabrication of the module was completed and presented to business partners at the COOEC fabrication yard in Qingdao in China on 25 August 2011. The two international oil and gas contractors, Norwegian-based Kvaerner and COOEC (Offshore Oil Engineering Co., Ltd.), established a strategic cooperation in 2010. The partnership offers a new, competitive delivery model for upcoming offshore oil and gas projects in the Asia-Pacific region and elsewhere.

First Permanent Mooring Work for InterMoor in China

InterMoor, an Acteon company, has completed its first permanent mooring work in the Lufeng oilfield, South China Sea. China Subsea Contract for Technip

Technip in a consortium with Offshore Oil Engineering Co. Ltd (COOEC) wins a substantial subsea contract in China. The contract, value  €200 million (Technip share: around €110 million)  was awarded by China National Offshore Oil Corporation (CNOOC) Deepwater Development Limited is for the South China Sea deepwater gas development project in the Panyu field, located about 150 kilometers South of Hong Kong. The development consists in a new subsea production system with six wells and its associated control system tied up to a new central processing platform. The contract covers the supply and installation of a 10” and a 6” diameter clad-lined pipelines, of steel tube umbilicals*, and associated equipments.
