Industry Standard Decom Contract Drafted

Law firm HFW said it has helped shipping association BIMCO draft an industry standard offshore decommissioning contact.The contract – DISMANTLECON – has been approved by BIMCO's Documentary Committee and will be released at the end of June, along with guidance notes. HFW, BIMCO to Draft First 2020 Bunker Clause

The law firm HFW has helped shipping association BIMCO draft its first clause relating to the International Maritime Organization's 2020 sulphur emission rules.The Global, sector-focused  law firm said that the new clause, focused on compliance, has been fast-tracked and may be published as soon as the end of October.BIMCO will produce several clauses dealing with specific issues relating to IMO 2020, which sets a new limit for the amount of sulphur in fuel oil of 0.5% for ships operating outside designated emission control areas. The new regulation will affect more than 70,000 ships globally.HFW is the only law firm on BIMCO's drafting committee.

With a presence on the U.S. market since 1994, Samskip Logistics has taken the next step by opening a new US head office in New York under the management of Paul Dean. For over two decades, the company has operated two offices in Norfolk, Va. and in Seattle. Samskip Logistics now plans to open more offices in the United States. All US-based staff will continue to perform an extended range of dry and reefer forwarding activities such as full (FCL) and less than (LCL) container loads, airfreight and warehousing.

Conference on Legal Issues Relating to Shipping

Hinode Maritime Events informed that it is organizing a "Conference on Legal issues relating to Shipping". It is scheduled to be held on Tuesday, March 10, 2015 in the Centrum, Center One, World Trade Center, Cuffe Parade, Mumbai. The Conference will offer opportunity to delegates at the forum to discuss legal issues pertaining to shipping and will see ship owners, ship agencies, shippers, insurers, maritime law fraternity, port authorities and other maritime interests who have already registered. Law Firm HFW Names Paul Dean New Shipping Head

London-based Holman Fenwick Willan (HFW) announce the election of Paul Dean as head of the law firm's shipping practice. Paul Dean has taken over from current head George Eddings who becomes the firm's new Managing Partner effective from 1 April 2013. Paul specialises in dispute resolution arising from marine and offshore matters, including charterparties, bills of lading, shipbuilding, collisions, fire and explosion, salvage, general average, groundings, total loss, towage, seismic and limitation.
