Maritime Training in the Philippines: Kongsberg Digital Sings MoU with MARINA

Norway-based Kongsberg Digital (KDI) and Maritime Industry Authority in the Philippines (MARINA) have signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU). According to Kongsberg, the MOU represents a significant milestone for innovation and transformation in maritime training in the Philippines,"Kongsberg Digital’s suite of simulation systems provides efficient and realistic training for maritime students and crew so building vital skills promoting safety, cost-efficiency, and sustainability in operations at sea.

Kongsberg Digital to Supply Simulators to UAE's AASTS

Kongsberg Digital (KDI) said it has signed a contract to deliver a suite of multipurpose simulation solutions to the Arab Academy for Science, Technology and Maritime Transport Branch in Sharjah (AASTS), United Arab Emirates. Navantia to Build F-110 Frigates for Spain

Spanish state-owned shipbuilding company Navantia and the Ministry of Defense have signed the contract for the construction of five F-110 frigates for the Spanish Navy.The new generation of F-110 frigates, whose construction will begin shortly in Ferrol, stands out for having its own Spanish design and a high degree of industrial and technological sovereignty. Two DNV GL Approvals for GTT Training Software

GTT Training, a GTT subsidiary dedicated to training liquefied natural gas (LNG) professionals and to the development of associated simulation tools, has obtained two approvals for G-Sim training software from DNVGL in accordance with their standard for Maritime Simulator Systems. DALO Secures Future with Maritime Simulation

The Danish Defense Acquisition and Logistics Organization (DALO) and KONGSBERG have renewed their maritime simulation cooperation with the March 2016 signing of a new framework agreement, including a 10-year ‘Long Term System Support Program’ (LTSSP) extension. The contract secures DALO’s access to the latest simulation technology for the next decade and includes migration of the existing KONGSBERG simulators delivered in 2012, to the sophisticated new K-Sim Navigation simulator platform.

Simulation Complex for Paraguay Waterway Training

The Transas navigational simulator Navi-Trainer Professional 5000 was installed at the Center for Maritime and River Shipowners (CAFyM) in Asuncion for training crews in tugs operations in the Parana-Paraguay Waterway. The project was carried out in conjunction with VTG S.R.L., the Transas' local representative, which is covering commercial and technical needs of the Paraguayan market for all Transas products. The NTPRO version 5.35 installed at the CAFyM center is an excellent training solution due to its new capabilities for operation with different types of boats and barges in river waters.

Iranian Navy Claims as Forerunner of Fight against Maritime Terrorism

He underscored his forces' high level of preparedness to push back any possible threat to the nation. "The young naval forces are ready to confront any threat" and they will defeat the enemies in a humiliating way, Sayyari said. Pointing to the presence of the Iranian Navy in north of the Indian Ocean, the Gulf of Aden and the Red Sea, the admiral stated that Iran was the first country to deploy warships in the Gulf of Aden to fight “maritime terrorism”. Iran is sending a “message of peace and friendship” to the world by dispatching warships to open seas. He added the presence of the Iranian Navy in open seas is “inspiring” for “oppressed” countries.

ST Engineering Raises Cap In STET

Singapore Technologies Engineering Ltd (ST Engineering) announced today that ST Education & Training Private Limited (“STET”) has increased its issued and paid up capital from S$1m to S$2m. This increase in paid-up capital is by way of a bonus issue of 1,000,000 ordinary shares of S$1 each. This bonus issue is based on the ratio of one new share for every one existing share by way of capitalisation of the revenue reserve account. STET is 70% owned by ST Electronics (Training & Simulation Systems) Pte. Ltd., a wholly owned subsidiary of Singapore Technologies Electronics Limited, the electronics arm of ST Engineering. The bonus shares, when issued will rank pari passu in all respects with the existing issued ordinary shares of S$1 each in the capital of STET.

Cubic Awarded Navy LCS Simulator Training Contracts

Cubic Corporation has received 3 prime contracts from Naval Air Warfare CenterTraining Systems Division. The contracts are for the development of instructor-led (synchronous) and instructor facilitated self-paced (asynchronous) courseware in support of the Littoral Combat Ship Train to Qualify (T2Q) and Train to Certify (T2C) shore-based training requirements for both variants of the Littoral Combat Ship, and for the Mission Packages utilized on both ships. RMA selects Transas Engine Room Simulator

Resolve Maritime Academy (RMA) has ordered the Transas Techsim 5000, DNV approved, Class A, Full Mission Engine Room Simulator for their new simulation facility in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. The new engine simulation systems currently being deployed will facilitate the conduct of a wide range of courses for the training of marine engineers, including operational and emergency procedures and crew resource management training with Resolve’s existing Transas Full Mission Bridge Simulators.

Scottish SME Goes Global

Aberdeen-based MarineMTS has signed a supply and support deal with a Greek manufacturer of marine electronic equipment. The deal will see MarineMTS supplying software to Intermarine Electronics, which provides marine electronic equipment to a multi-million pound global market, and also to the Greek Naval Fleet. Intermarine will use Microplot 7, an exclusive product developed by MarineMTS, in its own-label ECDIS products (Electronic Chart Display and Information System). As well as providing the proprietary software product, the deal will see MarineMTS provide support and maintenance services to Intermarine over the next 10 years. The Microplot range of software is the product on which MarineMTS was founded, and to which the business owns all the rights.

New Tech & Tug Training

Mass. Maritime responds to industry demand, reloads with cutting edge Transas equipment, and moves to the head of the brown water training queue. It was a dark and stormy night with choppy seas.
