SLNG Terminal Performs Small Scale LNG Reload First Time
Singapore LNG Corporation Pte Ltd (SLNG) has successfully performed its first small scale Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) Gas-Up/Cool-Down and Reload at its Terminal on Jurong Island. The operation was carried out from 18-20 June 2017 for the newly built, 6,500m3, Cardissa, an LNG bunker vessel owned by Shell and co-financed by the European Union’s Connecting Europe Facility that will serve customers in Northwest Europe. The operation was conducted at the SLNG Terminal’s Secondary Jetty, which is originally designed to accommodate LNG vessels from 60,000m3 to 265,000m3 in size. Detailed compatibility studies were carried out in advance to ensure that the vessel could safely call at the jetty.
Singapore Launches First LNG Truck Loading Facility
Singapore LNG Corporation Pte Ltd (SLNG) and Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore (MPA) jointly launched the nation’s first Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) Truck Loading Facility during a ceremony held on 12 April 2017, at the SLNG Terminal. The launch, which was officiated by Chief Executive Officer of SLNG, Mr John Ng, and Chief Executive of MPA, Mr Andrew Tan, marks the readiness of the facility for operations. Singapore Plans to Shape Bunkering for World's Future
Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore (MPA) introduced several new initiatives at SIBCON as part of Singapore’s continued efforts to enhance bunkering processes and prepare the bunkering industry to meet future demands. MPA previously announced the mandatory adoption of MFM for Marine Fuel Oil (MFO) deliveries in the Port of Singapore from 1 January 2017. MPA is on track for implementation with 110 bunker tankers already approved to perform MFO deliveries through MFM in the Port of Singapore. More than 23 bunker tankers have also been scheduled for installation and testing over the next two months. Moving ahead, MPA will put in an additional S$0.5 million to fund the test-bedding of the use of MFM for Distillates deliveries.
LNG Bunkering – Singapore Sets Up Joint Industry Project
A Joint Industry Project (JIP), co-funded through MPA’s MINT fund, is aimed to provide recommendations to the Singapore government authorities on enabling LNG bunkering in Singapore, ensuring operational safety, alignment with industry expectations and best practice, and compliance with relevant international rules, regulations and standards.
