Satellite communication solutions provider Intellian said it has been awarded a contract by SPAWAR to deliver its new SPL100 antenna system to the U.S. Navy.The SPL100 antenna is acombined Ka- and L-band antenna system designed to provide sustained information warfare capabilities. The new antenna system provides enhanced capabilities in both the Ka- and L-band depending on operational requirements.Intellian said it was commissioned by SPAWAR to design, develop, and deliver the SPL100 product for the U.S.

SeeByte, creator of smart software for unmanned maritime systems, said it will demonstrate software solutions for unmanned systems as part of the Royal Navy’s Unmanned Warrior exercise. Space and Naval Warfare Systems Command (SPAWAR) integrated a system of systems operability testing (SOT) capability for combatant ships onboard USS Curtis Wilbur (DDG 54), which just completed an availability and sea trial period utilizing the new SOT combat readiness testing, March 6. SOTs are part of ensuring interdependent command and control systems work seamlessly. Combat systems command and control is referred to as C5I and encompasses everything C4I (command, control, communications, computers, and intelligence) does, but includes combat systems. The Marine Mammal Program's trained Navy dolphins, of the Space and Navy Warfare Systems Center Pacific (SPAWAR), found the century-old torpedo off the coast of San Diego. Naval History and Heritage Command's (NHHC) Underwater Archeology Branch (UAB) at Washington Navy Yard recently received the crated remains of a historic and rare Howell Torpedo. SPAWAR supports aircraft carrier 'USS Harry S. The Space and Naval Warfare Systems Command (SPAWAR) cyber security inspection support team helps prepare USS Harry S. Truman (CVN 75)  for its upcoming shipboard cyber security inspection scheduled for early August. The SPAWAR team provides Sailors assistance with their shipboard information technology and cyber capabilities. During each stage of the process, SPAWAR observes and provides liaison support to the fleet while Navy Cyber Forces and U.S. Fleet Cyber Command conduct their assist and inspection respectively.

The International Collaborative Development for Enhanced Maritime Domain Awareness (ICODE MDA) was one of 14 projects selected by the Office of the Under Secretary of Defense for Acquisition, Technology and Logistics to receive $1 million awards beginning this fall through the Coalition Warfare Program, which funds international collaborative research efforts. Science Applications International Corporation announced it was awarded a prime contract by the U.S. Space and Naval Warfare Systems Command (SPAWAR) to produce the Battle Force Tactical Network (BFTN) system. The contract has a one-year base period of performance, four one-year options, and a contract value of approximately $57 million, if all options are exercised. Work will be performed in Sterling, Va. As the Navy's Information Dominance Systems Command, SPAWAR designs, develops and deploys advanced communications and information capabilities. The BFTN system provides secure connectivity to the maritime operational environment for Navy and joint forces.

Alion Awarded Navy Contract Valued at $4.6M to Analyze Naval Submarine and Surface Ship Survivability and Underwater Explosions Response. Technology Solutions Firm to Provide Engineering Support to Evaluate Fleet Survivability Under SeaPort Enhanced Contract. To help the Navy in determining the survivability and operational reliability of the fleet, Alion Science and Technology, an employee-owned technology solutions company, will analyze the effects of underwater explosions (UNDEX) on U.S. Navy platforms under a $4.6 million SeaPort Enhanced award. Alion’s team of experts will examine submarines, surface ships and associated platforms for the Naval Surface Warfare Center Carderock Division’s Survivability and Weapons Effect Department.

W R Systems, Ltd. in Norfolk has been awarded the second option year on its navigation and interior communications contract in support of the Space and Naval Warfare Systems Center Atlantic. This modification increases the contract ceiling from $54,462,137.76 to $82,562,920 and extends the period of performance through October 7, 2012. WRSystems has supported SPAWAR Atlantic’s requirements for In-Service Engineering (ISEA) support services for navigation and interior communication systems for the past 15 years.

W R Systems, Ltd. (WRSystems) has been awarded a $26,946,956 contract from the U.S. Navy to provide engineering technical support services for navigation systems in the U.S. and abroad. Seventy-five percent of the contract work will be performed in Hampton Roads, Va. through WRSystems’ Engineering Services Division in Norfolk, Va. The value of the contract could reach an estimated $140,601,392 if all options are exercised. The company is based in Fairfax, Va. WRSystems expects to hire additional staff to help service the new contract. The contract combines purchases for the Navy (97%), and the governments of Japan, Taiwan, Korea, Australia, Saudi Arabia and Egypt under the Foreign Military Sales Program.

Operating profit for the CMA CGM Group is expected to return to the breakeven point in December 2009, ahead of the company’s cautious forecasts in September 2009. A Northrop Grumman Corp. (NYSE:NOC)-led team has successfully demonstrated the integration of the AN/SPQ-9B radar and Naval Expeditionary Overwatch (NEO) system sensor data into the Integrated Combat Management System (ICMS) at the Navy's Center for Surface Combat Systems (CSCS) at Dam Neck, Va. The team included Naval Surface Warfare Center (NSWC) Dahlgren and Harris Corporation. NEO is sponsored by the Office of Naval Research (ONR). The demonstration illustrated the open architecture capabilities of ICMS to rapidly and affordably integrate both shipboard and off-board sensor data into a combat system network to support enhanced Fleet combat operations.

The Boeing Co., Anaheim, Calif., is being awarded a $33,888,986 cost plus incentive fee, cost plus fixed fee contract to provide the following efforts for the TRIDENT II (D5) Navigation Subsystem:  (1) engineering support services, and problem investigations for US and UK owned Electro-statically Supported Gyro Navigator (ESGN) navigation inertial equipment, (2) modification, refurbishment, and repair of U.S., and UK ESGN instruments and components, (3) TRIDENT II (D5) shipyard overhaul field engineering, (4) US Fleet Documentation, Surveillance Program, and Training, and (5) US/UK Stable Platform Housing Refurbishment. Work will be p erformed in Anaheim, Calif., (90 percent) and Heath, Ohio, (10 percent), and work is expected to be completed Jun. 2012.
