ABS China Looks Ahead to 2030

The annual ABS Joint China and Hong Kong Committee gathered Industry leaders to discuss global challenges facing the maritime sector. Aker Solutions Contracted for UK Subsea Field Redevelopment

Aker Solutions secures a NOK 650 million (GBP 70 million) contract with BP to help redevelop one of the largest oil fields in the UK sector. The Aberdeen operation of Aker Solutions will manufacture and supply all subsea controls equipment for the Quad 204 project, the redevelopment of the Schiehallion and Loyal fields located approximately 100 miles west of the Shetland Islands. The scope of work includes subsea controls equipment for subsea trees, manifolds and subsea safety isolation valves as well as controls distribution assemblies.

China Conference on Offshore Engineering Coming Up

The conference aims at exploring the forefront of subsea exploration technology, and promoting trade exchanges and cooperation between business partners. All participants will have the opportunity to expand business relations and get a transparent interpretation of  future market trends. The first day will discuss the development trend of oil and gas industry in the South China Sea, as well as offshore platform structure strategy; the second day will introduce subsea production technology, shipyard applications and future trends. In 2011, global offshore engineering equipment orders amounted to 69 billion RMB, an increase of 130% on the previous year.

Global Offshore Pipeline Market by Region 1997-2006

The installation of almost 50,000 km of pipeline is forecast over the next five years in the new second edition of The World Offshore Pipelines and Umbilicals Report 2002-2006, published today by leading offshore analysts Douglas-Westwood and offshore data specialists Infield Systems. According to the report’s lead author, Dominic Harbinson of Douglas-Westwood, “This total represents an increase of 44 percent over the previous 5-year period, and will require a global Capex of almost $53.6 billion. Three regions dominate the market, accounting for almost 60 percent of forecast pipeline lengths and over half of forecast global Capex.” The three regions are: North West Europe (with a forecast spend of $11.4 billion), Asia Pacific ($9.5 billion) and the US Gulf of Mexico ($8.2 billion).
