VARD Selects Synapsis INS For an Advanced Research Vessel

The German navigation system integrator Raytheon Anschütz has won a contract for the supply of a Synapsis Integrated Navigation System (INS) to an advanced research vessel. VARD Holding Limited, a major global designer and shipbuilder of specialized vessels, with their subsidiary VARD Electro AS, have selected Raytheon Anschütz’ Synapsis INS for a new research  vessel. The Synapsis INS is part of a large equipment and electrical installation package, which VARD Electro AS will provide to Cochin Shipyard Ltd.

Raytheon Anschütz Selected as INS Provider for Canada’s OFSV

Thales, a major system integrator in Canada, has chosen Raytheon Anschütz as the supplier of the Integrated Navigation System (INS) for the Canadian Coast Guard’s (CCG) new Offshore Fisheries Science Vessels (OFSV). As part of the OFSV program, three new vessels are being built for the CCG at Seaspan’s Vancouver Shipyards. The 63-metre vessels are designed to operate in the Atlantic, Pacific and Arctic Oceans. Their mission profile is to conduct fishing and acoustic surveys and collect oceanographic data to monitor changes in the ecosystem.

Synapsis INS for New Car Carriers

The German navigation system integrator Raytheon Anschütz has won a contract to supply the latest generation of IMO-certified Integrated Navigation Systems (INS) to three car carriers built by the Croatian shipbuilder Uljanik Brodogradiliste. The Pure Car and Truck Carriers (PCTCs) will be owned by Cayman Island based Auto Marine Transport Inc. and are scheduled for entering service from end of 2016. The new PCTCs will operate under a long-term charter of Siem Car Carriers AS. Each of the vessels has capacity to carry up to 7,000 cars.

Australian Reef Pilots Under New Ownership

Australian marine pilotage company Australian Reef Pilots (ARP) has been bought by a consortium of its employees. ARP, which services shipping through the Great Barrier Reef, has been sold by the private Brisbane-based company Torres Industries to a group of ARP executives and reef pilots, making for a very ‘hands on’ team. ARP CEO Simon Meyjes has led the buyout and said it would be business as usual during the transition. “We know the business and our customers intimately and want to seize the opportunities we can see to grow and expand our services,” Meyjes said.

Raytheon Anschütz Supplies INS to Chipolbrok

Raytheon Anschütz supplied its Synapsis Integrated Navigation System (INS) to a series of four new 32,000 DWT MPP heavy-lift vessels being built at Shanghai Shipyard for the Chinese-Polish joint stock shipping company Chipolbrok. The INS supplied includes X- and S-band radars as well as four Synapsis bridge workstations for chart radar and ECDIS with radar video overlay, the German navigation system manufacturer said. The INS centralizes common tasks and services and provides functional integration of navigation systems and applications as well as of important sensors.

Raytheon Anschütz Enhance Bridge INS

German navigation system manufacturer Raytheon Anschütz says it has launched a new Synapsis software release and hardware infrastructure, which will further enhance the bridge alarm management and add new features and capabilities to the Integrated Navigation System (INS). Synapsis Intelligent Bridge Control is the world’s first Integrated Navigation System (INS) which complies with the IMO Performance Standards MSC.252(83) and IEC 61924-2. The world’s first IMO-certified Integrated Navigation System (INS), Synapsis Intelligent Bridge Control, will take the center stage at the Raytheon Anschütz booth. Klein Launches Model 3000 Side Scan Sonar

Klein Associates, Inc., has begun full- scale production of the advanced Model 3000 Side Scan Sonar. The all digital, single-beam system is a result of the extensive application of new technologies used to develop the transducers and circuitry, along with incorporating designs from Klein's field proven Model 5000 Multi-Beam Focused Sonar system. The system features superior imagery at long ranges, dual (100 & 500 kHz) frequencies, a standard depth rating to 1,500 meters, modularity for mounting to various platforms, and portability. It is completely software driven on a PC platform employing Klein's SonarPro(tm) software. SonarPro(tm) is a custom designed acquisition program developed by experienced users for ease of use by both experienced and inexperienced operators.
