INSIGHTS: John Rynd / President , CEO and Director, Tidewater Inc.

Mr. John Rynd graduated from Texas A&M University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics. He previously served as Chief Executive Officer and President, and as a director of Hercules Offshore from 2008 through 2016. Prior to his time with Hercules, Mr. Rynd spent 11 years with Noble Drilling Services, Inc., where he served in a variety of management roles. Earlier in his career, he served in various roles of increasing levels of responsibility with Chiles Offshore and Rowan Companies. Beyond this, Mr. Rynd served as Chairman of the National Ocean Industries Association (NOIA) from 2014-15 and currently holds an Ex-Officio position on the Executive Committee. He serves on the Board of Directors of Fieldwood Holdings LLC, and was on the Board of Directors of Hornbeck Offshore, Inc.

Wärtsilä Wins Another Design Contract for Arctic Operations

A second confirmed design contract for Wärtsilä's new series of arctic platform supply vessels has been signed. This latest order is for a multi-purpose platform supply vessel (MPSV) being built by Tersan Shipyard in Turkey on behalf of U.S.- based Tidewater Inc, the leading provider of offshore service vessels to the global energy industry. The vessel will be operated by the Norwegian Troms Offshore Supply Group, a 100%-owned subsidiary of Tidewater. There is an option for further three similar vessels. A key element in the award of this contract was Tidewater's requirement for a compact design yet with a high deadweight giving maximum cargo capacity. Operational efficiency and reduced fuel consumption were among the other reasons why the Wärtsilä solution was selected.

NAVTOR Signs E-Navigation Agreement with DOF

E-navigation specialist NAVTOR has signed a landmark fleet agreement with DOF Management, the owner and operator of 78 advanced offshore service vessels. The deal will see NAVTOR’s innovative and user-friendly ENC service rolling out across DOF’s high-end CSVs, PSVs and AHTS vessels [Construction Support Vessels (CSVs), Platform Support Vessels (PSVs) and Anchor Handling Tug Supply Vessels (AHTS)], which operate in all key oil and gas regions worldwide. DOF has a 30-year track record of success in providing cutting-edge vessels to some of the biggest names in the energy industry.

NAVTOR Reports Norwegian Market Breakthroughs

NAVTOR, a company that delivers e-navigation solutions, announced market breakthroughs in the Norwegian offshore shipping segment. According to NAVTOR, a flurry of new client signings means that shipowners controlling 72% of the entire national fleet are now rolling the firm’s ENC service out across their vessels. NAVTOR said it is the navigation partner of choice for the Norwegian offshore segment, which today accounts for 44% of the nation’s total shipping business. NAVTOR has achieved this position just two years after the launch of its ENC service, which is compatible with all ECDIS, regardless of make. Tidewater to Acquire Troms Offshore Supply

US Firm, Tidewater, agrees with HitecVision to purchase Norway's Troms offshore, including 5 large PSV's. Tidewater say that the acquisition of Troms Offshore, headquartered in Tromsø, Norway, will expand their global footprint into the Norwegian sector of the North Sea and supplement their experience and vessel fleet operating in harsh environments, including cold climates. The Troms Offshore-owned fleet is expected to include five large, modern and technically-advanced deepwater Platform Supply Vessels (PSVs) at closing. In addition, Troms Offshore has one additional deepwater PSV under construction at the VARD Aukra yard in Møre og Romsdal, Norway and an option to build a seventh vessel.

Troms Offshore Fixes Statoil Charter

Troms Offshore has entered into a Letter of Intent with STX OSV who in turn have nominated STX OSV Aukra to build a PSV 07 design ship to service the charter with Statoil. The ship will be delivered from STX OSV Aukra shortly before or shortly after year end 2013. PSV 07 is a new innovative design developed by STX OSV and is a larger version of the well proven PSV 09 design. The vessel will be a Clean Design environmentally friendly diesel-electric ship with focus on low fuel consumption and low emission of greenhouse gases.

Troms Offshore Receives PSV from STX Søviknes Shipyard

Troms Sirius is a 'Clean Design' diesel electric PSV (Platform Supply  Vessel) with a deck area of  1.020m2 and consequently one of the largest PSV ships operating in the North Sea. Engines and propulsion in combination with advanced catalyst technologies ensure low fuel consumption, efficient operations and reduced emissions to air. In addition, she carries the most advanced equipment for oil recovery services and fire fighting (FiFi II). MV Troms Sirius is a STX PSV 09 design similar to one of the other ships in the Company’s fleet, MV Troms Capella, while the other ships owned by Troms Offshore have a VS 485 CD design. The ship will fly the Norwegian NOR flag with a crew of 28 split on two shifts.
