The Department of Defense today released its Annual Report on Sexual Harassment and Violence at the United States Military Service Academies (MSA) for academic program year (APY) 2014 - 2015. As part of a comprehensive review, DoD officials conducted site visits at the U.S. Military Academy, U.S. Naval Academy and the U.S. Air Force Academy, held focus groups with cadets and midshipmen, and reviewed academy policies, training, and procedures. “We are encouraged by the steps the academies have taken to eliminate sexual assault,” said Maj. Gen. Camille Nichols, the director of the Department of Defense Sexual Assault Prevention and Response Office. “All three academies are taking innovative approaches to improve both respect and safety of cadets and midshipmen.

President Barack Obama is scheduled to deliver the keynote address during the U.S. Coast Guard Academy’s 134th Commencement Exercises on Wednesday, May 20. Presidents traditionally address the graduating class at one of the federal service academies on a rotating basis. A woman took command of a U.S. military service academy for the first time in history when Rear Adm. Sandra Stosz took over as the superintendant of the U.S. Coast Guard Academy in New London, Conn., Friday, June 3. “We are extremely proud to be the first service with a woman at the helm of our academy,” said U.S. Coast Guard commandant, Adm. Robert J. Papp. Stosz takes over as the school continues to see an increase in minority admissions, growing from 12 percent in 2008 to 24 percent in 2010.

GlobalSantaFe Corporation announced that its board of directors has elected Jon A. Marshall as president and chief executive officer of the company. In addition, Mr. Marshall was elected a director at the company's annual meeting of shareholders. Mr. Marshall, who previously held the title of chief operating officer, succeeds C. Stedman "Sted" Garber, Jr., who, earlier this year, announced his intention to retire from his position as president, chief executive officer and a director. Marshall joined the company in 1979 and has held numerous operational and management roles over his 24-year career. In 1992, he became president of Applied Drilling Technology Inc. (ADTI), the company's turnkey drilling service subsidiary and Challenger Minerals Inc.
