Strategic Marine unveiled a new shipyard facility located on JTC’s waterfront site at 5 Benoi Road in western Singapore. The ceremony also saw the delivery of Southeast Asia’s first hybrid crew transfer vessel (CTV), and the unveiling of Strategic Marine’s fourth-generation fast crew boat (FCB).The new facility features a 5,000-DWT dry dock measuring 105m in length, 18.5m in width, and 8m in depth as well as a 6,000 DWT slipway.As part of the opening ceremony, the hybrid CTV, HST Swansea, was delivered to its new owner, UK-based HST Marine, along with its sistervessel, HST Tynemouth.

The Port of New Bedford in Massachusetts will add another base of operations and terminal logistics facility to support offshore wind projects off the northeastern coast seaboard.Foss is partnering with key local investors of New Bedford’s Cannon Street Holdings LLC (CSH) to develop the 30-acre site, currently home to the decommissioned Cannon Street Power Station in the city’s central waterfront. The former Sprague/Eversource site was selected for its proximity to offshore wind blocks located approximately 15 miles south of Martha’s Vineyard and Nantucket islands.

Austal USA finalized a deal to establish a repair facility in the Port of San Diego. The deal, first announced in November, includes a long-term lease of a waterfront site in National City adjacent to Naval Base San Diego, and the 15-acre site will focus on ship repair for U.S. Navy, Military Sealift Command and U.S. Coast Guard ships. U.S. Senator Charles Schumer on Monday joined Public Advocate Jumaane Williams, calling for a creation of a local offshore wind turbine assembly center at Sunset Park, Brooklyn, New York, and calling for the New York State Energy Research and Development Authority (NYSERDA) funding.According to a statement released by the Senator's office, the assembly site would position New York to play a significant role in the offshore wind supply chain, "which could create thousands of jobs…

Irving Shipbuilding Inc. has bought the former Maritime Steel and Foundries Ltd. steel fabrication site in Dartmouth as part of its plans to gear up for the $25-billion dollar federal combat ship procurement contract, reports 'The Chronicle Herald'. According to documents filed with Property Online Nova Scotia, title to the 2.4-hectare site at 605 Windmill Rd. was transferred from Cameron Corporation Ltd. to Irving Shipbuilding in June. Citing Irving spokeswoman Mary Keith, 'The Chronicle Herald' reported that the company wouldn’t disclose the purchase price, which was rumoured to be about $13 million. Port of Los Angeles receives 8 proposals to develop its 30-acre LA waterfront property. The 30-acre, fully entitled San Pedro waterfront property is known as Ports O’ Call Village, located along the Port’s Main Channel and adjacent to downtown San Pedro. Canadian Maritime Engineering of Dartmouth Nova Scotia announced the purchase of Brenton Gray Boatyards of Sambro Head. Located near the approaches to Halifax Harbour, Brenton Gray Shipyard has a long history of ship repair and two marine slipways, the largest capable of lifting a 300 ton vessel. CME has plans to expand and develop the existing facilities and waterfront site adjacent to the Port of Halifax. Canadian Maritime Engineering won the NATO supplier excellence award in 2008, and operates, coast to coast, with branches in Victoria, Sarnia, and over 60,000 sq ft of modern facilities at three locations in Nova Scotia and is part of a Canadian owned company with over 300 skilled tradesmen and approximately 100 in Nova Scotia.

Lighthouse Fast Ferry, Inc. reported record sales results for the fourth quarter and twelve months ended December 31, 2001. For the year-ended December 31, 2001, total revenue increased 10% to a record $4.4 million from $4.1 million for the prior-year period in 2000. Passenger ticket sales jumped nearly 16% to $3.9 million from $3.4 million in the prior-year period, reflecting increased rider-ship at the company's Highlands, New Jersey site, where total annual rider-ship rose 6% to 297,775 passengers. Immediate demand for the company's latest Keyport, New Jersey service, which commenced on October 15, 2001, also contributed to sales, with a rider-ship of 24,693 passengers at year-end 2001.

VT Halmatic said that Professor Bob Cripps, currently Engineering Manager at the RNLI, will be joining VT Halmatic as Technical Director as of May 9, 2005. Professor Cripps worked at Lloyds before moving to the RNLI and has extensive technical knowledge and experience of small craft and composite technology. The continuing challenge for technical excellence is essential to the VT Halmatic business plan. Professor Bob Cripps will lead the technical team supported by Dr Andrew Humphries, Marine Design Manager and Dr Robin Mableson, who heads up the Composite Technology Centre. The VT Composite Technology Centre (CTC) was formed in 2001 by the amalgamation of composite expertise from various divisions within the VT Group.
