Latest ShadowCat Wayfinder Delivered

The second vessel in the ShadowCat range, Wayfinder, has been delivered, naval architect Incat Crowther and yacht services fir YCTS Ltd announced. Wayfinder builds on the capability of Hodor, delivered in 2019.Wayfinder has a 68-meter length, 14-meter beam and a draft of 2.4 meters which permits close coastline navigation. Features include a fully certified helipad and helicopter hangar, with accommodation and storage over four decks. Wayfinder's carrying capacity includes a helicopter, five large tenders, jet skis and more.

Benetti Launches First Diamond 145

Italian shipbuilding and Boat building company Benetti has launched the 44.06-meter superyacht Ink as their first addition to the Diamond 145 range at the Viareggio’s Benetti slipway.The 44-meter-long Class category flagship was given its baptism in the sea at an impressive ceremony in front of hundreds of spectators.Welcoming the Authorities, the public, suppliers and all the company’s workers and office staff, Azimut|Benetti Group President Paolo Vitelli spoke of a spectacular launch."Slipway launches are part of the history of Benetti shipyards. Sea Machines Demonstrates Autonomous Spill-Response Vessel

As a part of its cooperative agreement with the U.S. Department of Transportation Maritime Administration (MARAD), Boston-based Sea Machines Robotics announces that it has successfully demonstrated its autonomous systems in action on board a Kvichak Marco skimmer boat during events held along the Portland harbor earlier today.Sea Machines’ technology opens a new era of capability for the marine industry, and today the company demonstrated its ability to increase the safety, productivity and predictability of response for marine oil-spill operations.

Tunisia Reassures Yachters Following Terror Attack

A week after a terrorist attack in Tunisia, local superyacht businesses are reassuring yachters that security has been increased at Tunisian ports despite numerous cancellations. The attack saw a gunman with alleged links to Islamic State extremists open fire on a tourist beach near Sousse, Tunisia, killing 38, including at least 29 Britons, and injuring at least 39 others. Despite the upped security and the government’s involvement, The UK Foreign Office has updated its travel advice to warn that further terrorist attacks in Tunisia are possible and are urging people to be vigilant.

Drydocks World spearheads the launch of DCMMI

Drydocks World, a service provider in the maritime industry, has announced  the formation of the Dubai Council for Marine and Maritime Industries (DCMMI), a specialized non-profit trade and industry council to promote the interests of the marine and maritime industry in Dubai and the UAE. DCMMI represents a wide cross-section of the UAE’s marine and maritime industry such as Offshore & Engineering, Ship Repair & Maintenance, Shipbuilding & Conversion, and Rig building, Chandlery and Yacht Services. The Council was launched under the auspices of the Dubai Chamber of Commerce and Industry.

Bay Ship & Yacht Services Research Vessels

Completing under-water hull and machinery repairs on Scripps Institution of Oceanography’s “R/V New Horizon” at Bay Ship & Yacht’s shipyard in Alameda, CA.

Dawn has broken over the Bay Ship & Yacht shipyard, located on San Francisco Bay in the island City of Alameda, as the yard-crew carefully rolls the cradled Research Vessel or R/V New Horizon from her work station, along the rails to the yard’s new 1200-ton Syncrolift, which gently lowers the vessel into the estuary that separates Alameda from Oakland. Sparkling in the morning sun, the 170-by-36 ft vessel, weighing almost 800 tons, had undergone several weeks of underwater hull and machinery repairs at the yard.

Hinckley Appoint Frank and Bernard in Electronics Department

Hinckley Yacht Services, the newly renamed Little Harbor full service complex here, has announced the appointment of David Frank as electronics department supervisor, establishing the department as a full service dealership. He will be assisted by Roger Bernard as electronics service manager. Previously, electronics work at Little Harbor was subcontracted out to vendors and technicians in the Portsmouth area. "These men have been working in the marine electronics business for over 25 years so they know the clientele and the demands of the job," said Geoff Prior, operations manager of the yard. Frank brings 17 years of experience as a marine electronics technician. manufacturers such as Furuno, Northstar, B&G, Seatel, and Raytheon.

Bradford Marine Expands Line

Bradford Marine, Inc. (Bradford Marine) announced that they have expanded their line of services with the formation of a new subsidiary, Bradford Marine Group, Inc. (Bradford Marine Group). Newport Shipyard is expanding its management team in order to handle an influx of new work. Mark Mutty, with over 28 years in the boating industry and well versed in both yacht and commercial applications of yacht repair and maintenance, is the Yard Manager for the Shipyard. He was previously Facilities/Yard Manager for Hinckley Yacht Services (formerly Little Harbor Marine) and for Newport Offshore Ltd. Ann Souder, the Director of Marketing, has been a consultant on marketing and promotions to the super yacht industry. She has over 25 years experience in marketing both in the United States and Europe. In addition to her marketing responsibilities, she will coordinate the various special events that take place at the Shipyard. Captain Tom Donovan is the Commercial Projects Manager.
