Esgian: New Contracts, Drilling Activities and Rig Moves Across the World

Esgian's last roundup of the year for the Week 52 puts spotlight on new developments for Dolphin Drilling semisub, Seadrill drillships, as well as Shellā€™s plans for Australia and ONGCā€™s new tender for jackups in India.ContractsDolphin Drilling has signed a Letter of Intent (LOI) with an undisclosed operator for the 1,500-ft semisubmersible Borgland Dolphin to undertake a 500-day drilling campaign in the UK. The drilling campaign is planned to begin directly after the firm part of the contract period with EnQuest, which was announced in late November 2023.

Svitzer Buys Back Svitzer Pembroke Tug for Milford Haven Ops

Towage provider Svitzer, part of A.P. Moller-Maersk, has bought a new tug to support terminal operations in Milford Haven, UK. The addition of the Svitzer Pembroke to the UK fleet will free up the 86-tonne bollard pull ASD tug, Svitzer Ramsey, for relocation to London to cater for expected growth at the River Thames and River Medway, Svitzer said.The Svitzer Pembroke was originally built for Svitzer at Zamakona Shipyard, Spain, but in 2014 the vessel was sold, and has operatedā€¦

After being very much on the margins of the offshore wind industry, floating offshore wind now appears to be ready to hit the mainstream. With gigawatt scale developments already on the horizon, what will the infrastructure needed to build and support them look like? Havyard-Design, Astilleros Zamakona-Built Reefer Delivered to Royal Arctic Line

In 2018, Havyard Design & Solutions won a contract for the delivery of two ship designs to Royal Arctic Line A/S. Reefer vessel design was a new segment for Havyard and the first of the two ships, ā€˜Siuana Arcticaā€™, has now been delivered from the Astilleros Zamakona yard in Spain.Royal Arctic Line A/S handles all sea freight to and from the 13 biggest ports in Greenland, which secures supplies across the country. ā€˜Siuana Arctica' is set to sail the Uummannaq area to the Upernavik district in north-west Greenland.In the course of Decemberā€¦

SEAPLACE Relies on FORAN for Tug Build

SEAPLACE, a ship design and offshore engineering company relies on FORAN V80R3.0 for the conceptual, basic and details design of the recently launched tugboat, Caspian Fauna.In late April, the tug was launched at Turkey's Gelibolu Shipyard. Zamakona Launches Siuana Arctica

Spanish shipbuilding and ship repair company Zamakona Yards reached a new milestone with the launching of the first of two new 69-meter reefer vessels to be built for the Greenlandic shipowner Royal Arctic Line A/S. Launching will take place February 4.The vessel will be named as Siuana Arctica and will replace the existing vessel Pajuttaat built in 1979. Conceptual design is being carried out by the Norwegian company Havyard Design & Solutions.The ship is designed to operate in northwest Greenland and have greater capacity than current ship. The ship will have the flag of Greenland and outfitting works will continue afloat being delivery expected to be by summer 2020.Zamakona Yards have closely worked with the shipowner and designer to provide the vessel with best performance at seaā€¦

Atlantic Offshore Get Extension for 3 ERRVs

Norway-based Atlantic Offshore, a provider of safety and support at sea, announced that it has received contract extensions for three of its emergency response and rescue vessels (ERRVs).The Department for Environment, Food & Rural Affairs (Defra) UK has declared a 9 month option for Ocean Osprey, commencing end of June, said the provider of emergency response, rescue & recovery, multi-role and platform supply vessel operations, within the UK and Norwegian energy sectors.Ocean Osprey  is a offshore supply vessel built in 2014 which currently sailing under the flag of United Kingdom (UK).Meanwhile, Total UK has declared one year option for Ocean Troll, commencing mid-July, said the company.

Oliver Design to Showcase Projects at Navalia

Oliver Design will be showcasing some of its latest projects on its stand at the Navalia trade fair, which runs from May 22 to 24 , in Vigo, Spain.Recent projects from the Spanish firm, which specializes in naval design and architecture, include new state-of the-art vessels ranging from working vessels to luxury cruise ships. It has also carried out renovation on several existing vessels.The biannual Navalia is one of the top international fairs for the shipbuilding industry.

Zamakona to Build Two Ships for Royal Arctic Line

Government of Greenland owned shipping company Royal Arctic Line A/S has signed a contract with Spanish shipbuilder Zamakona Yards for the construction of two reefer ships with and the concept design will be conducted by the norwegian company Havyard. The two vessels will replace Pajuttaat and the charter ship Vestlandia, built in 1979 and 1983 respectively. The ships are designed to operate in northwest Greenland and have greater capacity than current ships. The ships will have the flag of Greenland and are expected to be delivered by  2020. This will alllow to Royal Arctic Line with the renewal of the vessels and accomplish an important milestone. Zamakona Yards will build the vessels with the latest technology and with the highest standar of quailty and efficiency.

MacGregor Davits for Esvagt SOV

MacGregor, part of Cargotec, said it has won new davit orders from Spanish shipyard Astilleros Zamakona. They are destined for a service operation vessel (SOV) owned by the Danish company Esvagt AS. The contract includes an order for one of MacGregor's largest davit systems, specially-designed to ensure safe transfers in rough weather. Equipment deliveries are scheduled for November 2018 and the order was booked in Cargotec's fourth quarter 2017 order intake. The vessel will feature one of MacGregor's largest davitsā€¦

New Wind Farm Service Vessel for ESVAGT

A 15-year contract will see a new ESVAGT service operation vessel (SOV) support MHI Vestas Offshore Wind in the Deutsche Bucht (DeBu) Wind Farm project. ESVAGT will deliver the SOV for MHI Vestas in August 2019. The new contract is not only the longest in ESVAGTā€™s history, but it is also the largest in terms of value. ā€œThis contract builds on the strong relationship we have had with MHI Vestas since 2010,ā€ said ESVAGT A/S Chief Executive Officer, Søren Nørgaard Thomsen. Zamakona at Salon Halieutis 2017

Zamakona Yards will participate in this international event, with the objective of offering to the Moroccan and international fishing sector the services that our group offers specifically to the sector, such as the design, newbuid, repair and the refit of specialized vessels in any of our three shipyards located in the Canary Islands (Las Palmas Port) and in the Basque Country, specifically in the ports of Pasajes and Bilbao. A good example of our experience in the fishing industry of these types of vessels are the latest tuna vessels equipped with the most current technologies such as the Ízaro, Ljubica, Challenge and the Jai Alai. Morocco, due to its double slope, Atlantic and Mediterranean, is one of the most relevant players in the fishing sector.

ZAMAKONA Completes "J UAN THING" Refit

Shipyard Zamakona Pasaia completed last week the repair and maintenance of health dry rescue ship and maritime assistance "JUAN THING" the Social Marine Institute. The ship 75 meters long by 14 meters wide, has required the implementation of various repairs and general maintenance related to the compulsory performances Captaincy and Classification Society as well as reviews of critical equipment of the ship such as Propellers azimuthal Line Axis, or Stabilizing fins. Notably, there has been a complete dismantling of the propellers under the supervision of technical equipment maker Wartsila . They have also replaced the elastic blocks of the main and proceeded to realign the entire shaft line engines.

New Tug Deliverd to Boluda

Boluda Towage and Salvage has taken delivery of the newly built VB Xaloc, the first tug of the ownerā€™s multi-boat order from Astilleros Zamakona and first of Robert Allan Ltd.ā€™s TRAktor 3200-V class escort tugs. The TRAktor 3200-V was designed by Robert Allan Ltd. specifically to meet Boludaā€™s requirements for performance, propulsion equipment, accommodation facilities, tank capacities and all within a gross tonnage (GRT) limit of less than 500. Zamakona Delivers Tug for Boluda

The work of Astilleros Zamakona's collaboration with Robert Allan as a designer and experience of Boluda Towage and Salvage as an operator in tow obtained from this new construction 768 tugboat VB XALOC type AVT will be from now on the tugboat reference for port operations, towing and escort. This tugboat with below 500 GT and length of 31.7m and sleeve 12.8 has a power of 7,600 hp to get a shot fixed point of 79.6 tons. It has accommodation for eight people with a level of "Comf-Noise 3"; also reference in the sector for this type of vessel. Esvagt Makes Vestdavit MissionEase First Choice for Mission Bay

Norway-based boat system and davit-handling specialist Vestdavit has secured a breakthrough order for its unique MissionEase multi-boat handling solution for mission bays, under contract to offshore support vessel owner Esvagt. Multi-boat handling on the high seas will be a defining characteristic of flexibility for offshore ships in the years ahead, according to Vestdavit, and MissionEaseā€™s fast and safe solution for transferring boats between storage and davit is expected to enhance the attraction of ships up for charter. MissionEase is the first multi-boat handling system in the offshore segment which has been designed from its conception for the widest array of ancillary craft, including RIBS, ROVs and Unmanned Support Vessels.

Synapsis INS for Offshore Crew Change Vessel

German navigation system manufacturer Raytheon Anschütz has secured a contract for the delivery of the Synapsis Integrated Navigation System (INS) to a Crew Change Vessel (CCV). The vessel is being built for the Danish shipping company Esvagt by Astilleros Zamakona Shipyard in Spain. The vessel, used for crew changes at sea, is planned to be delivered in the second quarter of 2017. Havyard Ship Design & Solutions AS, in accordance to the shipowner, is responsible for ship design and delivery of system packages.

New Ship Continues Atlantic Offshore's Fleet Modernization

Atlantic Offshore Rescue will unveil the third new vessel in the past 12 months as part of its fleet modernization program, representing an investment totaling $458 million. Ocean Falcon, a new Class A Multi Role and Emergency Response and Rescue (MRV/ERRV) vessel, is to be christened at a ceremony at Aberdeen harbor before commencing a contract with a major U.K. operator. Atlantic Offshore Rescue will provide emergency recovery, rescue cover, tanker assistance and general field support for offshore operations at the Curlew Field, in the North Sea.

Zamakona Adds Capacity with New Slipway

The shipyard in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, Repnaval. SA, belonging to the group Zamakona Yards in the Canary Islands, is operating a new slipway. After an investment of nearly 5 million Euros, the slipway will double the existing capacity is it can accommodate vessels up to 120 meters length by 20 meters beam and 5,500 tons. With these new capabilities, Repnaval can serve almost 80 percent of the vessels that operate in its area, the yard said. Shipbuilding Contract: Zamakona Nabs ESVAGT Deal

Astilleros Zamakona S.A, belonging to our group Zamakona Yards has signed a contract with the owner ESVAGT A.S, a company belonging to the multinational Danish AP Møller-Mærsk. The vessel will be delivered in the 2nd quarter of 2017 and will have the design and engineering of Havyard Design & Solutions A.S in cooperation with the ship-owner himself and our shipyard. It aims to make the change of crews in emergency assistance to offshore oil platforms, support for the maintenance operations of wind offshore facilities, etc.

Zamakona Builds Tuna Vessel for Echebastar

Zamakona Yards informs its Astilleros Zamakona shipyard will deliver new build EuskadiI Alai, the third tuna freezer vessel ordered by the Echebastar Group to the Bermeo Group Echebastar on Saturday at the maritime cruise station in Getxo, Port of Bilbao. Present for the ceremony will be Kepa Echevarría, Deputy Director of the Echebastar Group; Pedro Garaygordóbil, Zamakona Yards´ President; and the vesselā€™s godmother Miren Arantza Gabancho Munitiz, member of the company that owns the tuna vessel.

Zamakona Repairs Spanish Hospital Ships

Spanish shipbuilding and repair group Zamakona Yards announced it has completed simultaneously repair and maintenance projects aboard two government-owned hospital ships, Juan De La Cosa and Esperanza Del Mar.   The vessel Juan De La Cosa was repaired at Zamakona Pasaia yard at San Sebastian, and the Esperanza Del Ma at the yard Repnaval in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria.
