Pole Star's EVE Receives IMO-DCS Approval

The provider of fleet management, ship security, and fisheries monitoring systems to the maritime industry Pole Star Space Applications has received IMO-DCS approval from Verifavia and Bureau Veritas for our Environmental Vessel Efficiency solution (EVE).

The UK-headquartered company said in a press release that EVE offers its clients a solution that helps them comply with environmental regulations such as MRV and IMO DCS, and - just as importantly - the data-driven analysis needed to reduce fuel consumption and improve profit margins.

Environmental responsibility is a priority for the IMO, and the shipping industry is actively engaged in trying to reduce its carbon footprint.

EVE provides crucial vessel and fuel performance data, assisting fleets in meeting operational KPIs, charter-party compliance, and optimisation, leading to the more efficient use of bunkers through lower comparable emissions, it said.

The release said that EVE’s primary goal is to semi-automate information coming from a ship to shore, facilitating traditional manual noon day reports, and digitising a ship’s report at source, building a ship database on the Pole Star platform. In time, this database will enable shipping companies to manage their vessels’ performance.

"Pole Star is extremely pleased to obtain IMO-DCS approval from Verifavia and Bureau Veritas. We have been serving the shipping & offshore sector for 20 years, and have become a trusted party to our list of over 1200 clients in our role as the self-proclaimed digital eyes and ears of the sea. As such, we understand the commercial pressures that regulatory enforcement brings. Our technology has always connected the ship to the shore, so with the emergence of both the EU MRV and IMO DCS regulations, it became an obvious extension for us to develop a cost-effective solution for our clients’ environmental compliance needs” Julian Longson, managing director of Pole Star said.
