SENER Again Participates in ASNE Day
SENER announced participation once again in ASNE Day, the annual Congress and Exhibition held by the American Society of Naval Engineers that took place from February 19-21 in Arlington, Virginia. The event brings together most part o the naval shipyards and companies related that want to learn about the news in the naval shipbuilding industry, both in the technical presentations and in the exhibition area, where SENER had a stand.
SSI Debuts Updated ShipConstructor
In what SSI calls its “most user-focused release,” the latest release of the company’s flagship CAD/CAM software, ShipConstructor 2014 R2, features more than 425 enhancements. SSI said ShipConstructor 2014 R2 streamlines workflows for users and enhances the user experience, which according to the developer, has been accomplished by collecting feedback from clients in all markets and industries, then implementing hundreds of suggestions that boost efficiency, quality and stability.
UBC Undergrads' CAD Initiative Rewarded by SSI

Fifth Damen PSV for World Wide Supply
Damen Shipyards Group is set to deliver the fifth Platform Supply Vessel in a series of six to World Wide Supply of Norway. World Opal is a Damen PSV 3300 CD. The first ship, World Diamond, was delivered in July and the last in the series World Sapphire is due to be delivered mid-December. Delivery of the new design involved extensive CAD/CAM modeling by Damen Shipyards itself and model testing at Maritime Research Institute Netherlands (MARIN).
ASMAR Uses FORAN for New Research Vessel
FORAN has been the CAD/CAM System used by the Chilean shipyard ASMAR in the development of an Oceanographic and Fisheries Research Vessel, a state of the art design built for worldwide oceanographic and fishing service and geological research. The vessel, Cabo de Hornos, has been already delivered. With a length overall of 74.1 m, breadth molded of 15.6 m and depth to main deck of 8.5 m, the vessel can reach a speed of 14.3 knots, with accommodation for 68 persons.

Canada's Most Powerful Tug Built With ShipConstructor
As a 100 metric-ton bollard pull ice class tug, the OCEAN Tundra is reportedly the most powerful harbor tugboat to ever be built in Canada. SSI's ShipConstructor CAD/CAM application was used to construct this vessel. SSI client Robert Allan Ltd. produced the design and SSI's dealer, Navware, and the associated marine engineering firm, Navtech, worked with OCEAN Industries during the production design and engineering of the tugboat.
Nupas-Cadmatic Signs Software Contract with NAS
Nupas-Cadmatic has signed a deal with North American Shipbuilding (NAS), part of Edison Chouest Offshore and based in Larose, Louisiana. The contract includes the complete configuration of more than 50 structural, outfitting, electrical, production and nesting licenses. The deal was signed after a trial period that challenged the software’s capabilities. The test showed that Nupas-Cadmatic provides the yard with a wide range of benefits not covered by their former CAD/CAM software.

LR Class New Brazil-bound Damen PSV's
'World Diamond', the first of a series of six uniquely designed platform supply vessels (PSV), was christened recently by the ship’s godmother, Princess Margareta of Romania, at Damen Shipyards’ Galati in Romania. Each of these PSVs is classed by Lloyd’s Register and is of 3,300 dwt with a breadth of 16.2 metres and draught of 6.5 metres. The remaining five PSVs will be delivered to their owner, Norwegian offshore support company, World Wide Supply AS (WWS), later this year.

Damen Shipyards Galati has delivered the World Diamond, the first of six Platform Supply Vessels for Norwegian offshore owner World Wide Supply, built to an entirely new Damen design.
