Production Floaters Orders Are on the Rebound
Fifteen production floaters were contracted in 2017 – 11 FPSOs, two production semis, a wellhead TLP and an FLNG – and the number of deep water projects in the near-term planning queue indicates production floater orders are set to accelerate. This is a big change from 2016 when orders for new units totally dried up and the deepwater future looked pretty bleak. Here’s a round-up of contracts awarded last year and in January 2018.

Food Handling Products Ordered for Ovation of the Seas
ALMACO informs it has been contracted to deliver food handling products for the Royal Caribbean International’s Ovation of the Seas, the third Quantum-class ship scheduled for delivery during the second quarter of 2016. Canadian Icebreaker Refit Contracts Awarded
The Canadian Government informs it has awarded a $6.5 million contract to Babcock Canada Inc. for critical refit work for Canadian Coast Guard ship 'CCGS Louis S. St-Laurent'. The shipyard portion of the work will be carried out by Chantier Davie Canada Inc., a sub-contractor to Babcock Canada. The CCGS Louis S. St-Laurent is Canada’s largest and heaviest icebreaker. While in drydock at the Davie Shipyard in Levis, Quebec, the vessel will undergo critical maintenance.
Two Navy Contracts for GD Bath Iron Works
Included in the latest listing of contracts awarded by the US Department of Defense, Navy, are two contracts with General Dynamics Bath Iron Works, Bath, Maine. This is a $28,716,385 delivery order under a previously awarded basic ordering agreement (N00024-12-G-4330) for the accomplishment of fleet maintenance sustainment support for fiscal 2014. Work will be performed in San Diego, Calif., and is expected to be completed by September 2014.
