Coast Guard Receives New Response Boats
U.S. Coast Guard Station Cape Disappointment personnel recently received an upgrade to their small boat fleet, when two new 29-foot, Freedom Class, Response Boat – Small, were delivered and put into operation, replacing the 25-foot, defender class, Response Boat – Small. The new platform, offers crewmembers greater operational visibility, comfort and endurance. The new 29-foot RB-S is four feet longer, about 400 pounds heavier and handles differently.

First of 10 Utility Vessels Delivered
Incat Crowther announced the first deliveries of a 10-boat order for 42m Infield Utility Vessels to Brunei’s PTAS Marine. Developed in conjunction with builder Strategic Marine, the project called upon Incat Crowther’s track record in steel crew boats to meet strict performance criteria. PTAS has been contracted by Brunei Shell Petroleum to build and operate nine vessels to support their offshore platforms for a period of ten years.
Incat Crowther Design 10-Boat IUV Order
Incat Crowther say they supported Strategic Marine in their winning technical proposal for the construction of ten 42m Infield Utility Vessels (IUV) for Brunei's PTAS Marine, and the first boat has now been delivered. Strategic Marine called in Incat to assist in their technical proposal for the project, committing to a timeframe of just 15 months from contract signing to the delivery of the ninth vessel. The tenth boat will be retained by PTAS as a backup vessel throughout the contract period.
NATO Counter-piracy Frigate Boards Pirate Skiff
NATO’s counter-piracy Operation Ocean Sheild warship UPS Hetman Sagaidachny of Ukraine boarded a skiff with seven suspected pirates aboard in the Internationally Recommended Transit Corridor (IRTC). As the Ukrainian boarding team approached, the skiff tried to escape and suspected pirates were observed throwing weapons overboard, including AK-47 assault rifles. The skiff had 16 barrels of fuel and multiple outboard engines characteristic of a pirate action group.

Thailand Orders 75 Rescue ONE Boats
Rescue ONE® a provider of multi-use, interoperable boats for fire, rescue and law enforcement wins the hefty Thai contract. In late 2011, Thailand was severely impacted by flooding, accounting for over 800 deaths and affecting 13.6 million people. These floods prompted the government to seek new solutions for dealing with flood rescue and evacuation. The order will be shipped from Alabama-based Rescue ONE in phases over the next 6 months, set for an in-service date of late 2013.

Moose Boats Delivers M3-34 Dive/Patrol Boat to LAPD
Moose Boats, an aluminum boat manufacturer, delivered a M3-34 Mono-hull to the Los Angeles Police Department in San Pedro, CA in February 2012. The M3 all aluminum mono-hull is a new hull platform for Moose Boats and is powered by twin 300hp Yamaha outboard engines. The boat features a fully enclosed cabin with two shock-mitigating seats, bench seating for four additional personnel and a standing height head enclosure.
BRP Begins Testing Next Generation Biofuel
BRP begins a program to test butanol-extended fuel in a variety of recreational marine engines for Argonne National Laboratory, in collaboration with the U.S. Department of Energy’s Vehicle Technologies Office. Butanol-extended fuel will be tested as an alternative to gasoline containing 15 percent ethanol (E15). The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) granted a waiver allowing up to 15 percent ethanol in gasoline.
