Vigor’s CEO, Frank Foti, Keynote Speaker at Upcoming 'Boatyard Day'
Frank Foti, CEO & President, Vigor Industrial LLC, will deliver the Boatyard Day Keynote Address on the "Resurgence of the Pacific Northwest Maritime Industry" at 3 p.m. on Thursday, November 21, during the 2013 Pacific Marine Expo. During his remarks, Foti will cover training the next generation of maritime workers, reinvesting in marine infrastructure, and opportunities on the horizon, including the revitalization of the fishing fleet.
Vigor Renames Fabrication and Alaska Operations
Vigor Industrial announced today that it has renamed two of the company’s subsidiaries. U.S. Fab, Vigor’s fabrication and shipbuilding subsidiary, is now Vigor Fab. Alaska Ship and Drydock, which operates the Ketchikan shipyard in Alaska, is now Vigor Alaska. “It’s about better serving our customers,” explained Frank Foti, president and CEO of Vigor Industrial. •Vigor Shipyards, which provides repair, maintenance and modernization services to the U.S.
Willard Delivers SOLAS Rescue Boats
Willard Marine, a 56-year-old builder of composite and aluminum boats, has recently taken orders to build rescue boats for the Alaska Marine Highway System (AMHS), U.S. Military Sealift Command (MSC) and Maersk Lines Ltd. The Willard Marine rescue boats meet all U.S. Coast Guard requirements under the international Safety of Life at Sea (SOLAS) treaty. AMHS has ordered two 670 rescue boats for the M/V Columbia, which is being refitted with new safety equipment.
Arctic Prowler to be Christened Oct. 5
Alaska Longline, LLC, and Alaska Ship & Drydock (ASD) will christen the F/V Arctic Prowler on Oct. 5, 2013. The ceremony for the new 136 ft. freezer longliner will be held at the Ketchikan Shipyard in Ketchikan, Alaska. F/V Arctic Prowler, the first large commercial fishing vessel to be built in Alaska, is an Ocean going Factory Longliner, capable of processing and storing catch aboard. The vessel is to be Load Lined and classed by Det Norske Veritas (DNV) and will be U.S. flagged.
