Winter, arrived on March 23 for a three-day visit in as a guest of the Israel Ministry of Defense and the Israel Navy Commander in Chief, Vice Admiral Eli Marum. This visit is a continuation of the strong ties and extensive collaboration between the and U.S. Naval Forces. This is Winter's first visit in as the Secretary of the Navy. His first visit to the country was in 1998 when he arrived with a delegation of U.S. Military Industry Seniors. During his stay, he met with the Minister of Defense, Mr. Ehud Barak, Chief of the General Staff, Lieutenant General Gabi Ashkenazi, General Manager of the Israeli Ministry of Defense, Mr.

Diesel Engineering Inc., Englewood Cliffs, N.J., is being awarded a $7,767,946 firm-fixed-price contract for 16 MTU 12V 4000 M90 propulsion diesel engines for its fast patrol boat construction contract to support requirements of the government of Israel, Ministry of Defense, under the Foreign Military Sales Program. Work will be performed in Detroit, Mich., and is expected to be completed by November 2004. Contract funds will not expire at the end of the current fiscal year. General Dynamics reported 2001 fourth quarter net earnings of $246 million, $1.21 per share on a fully diluted basis, on sales of $3.5 billion. This represents an 11 percent earnings per share increase over the fourth quarter of 2000, when net earnings were $219 million, $1.09 per share, on sales of $2.7 billion.
