Nautilus Minerals Completes Drilling Program

Nautilus Minerals has completed its 2010/11 seafloor drilling program, with the vessel, REM Etive, having demobilized in Singapore on May 16, 2011. During the drilling program in the Bismarck Sea of Papua New Guinea, Nautilus completed a 99 hole diamond drilling project, for a total of 1475 metres. Drilling was focused within the area of the Mining Lease (ML154) recently granted to Nautilus, which contains the Solwara 1 deposit  and the Solwara 5 seafloor massive sulphide (SMS) discovery. A total of 71 holes was drilled in ML154, for 1147 metres.

Sustainable Ocean Summit, Belfast, Ireland

Senior representatives from a wide range of industries that use ocean space and resources will come together to discuss sustainability issues that face the ocean business community in a summit in June. The Sustainable Ocean Summit is an international cross sectoral business conference on ocean stewardship. The conference, organized by the World Ocean Council in association with Golder Associates is being held in Belfast, Northern Ireland on the 15 -17 June 2010 and will bring together representatives from varying marine industries including oil and gas, shipping, fisheries, aquaculture, ports, renewable energy and marine technology.

Ultra-Low Wake Ferry Gets Green Light

All American Marine, Inc. and Teknicraft Design, Ltd. have successfully made a proposal to Kitsap Transit to bring a new passenger ferry to Rich Passage. On Tuesday, April 21st, the commissioners of Kitsap Transit unanimously approved $5.3m for the purchase of a 77 ft ultra-low wake Teknicraft catamaran and on May 18th, All American Marine received the signed notice-to-proceed. The high speed passenger catamaran will carry 118 passengers and operate between Bremerton and Seattle, Washington at speeds of 29 to 38 knots.
